Improve Race Relations in America

How did slavery begin

Slavery began when European merchants started the Triangular Trade. First slave ships from Britten left ports like London Liverpool and Bristol. the ships were carrying guns, cloth, iron ware and a drink that had been made in Britten. African dealers kidnapped people from villages. from up to 100 miles one of the people was quobna ottabh people . When they were on the ship it was very tight and they did not have a lot of room. When they died they were thrown over board. Many slaves were needed in the new world to make money for there masters and to farm. There were more slaves in the south because they needed them more also it was legal in the south and not in the north. When the cotton gin was made the owners needed more slaves.

slaves in america were treated poorly the prisoners were forced to do hard work they march coast coast with there hand tied behind there back they would be sold as goods to. Family"s were separated from each other. and they did not see each other ever again and if they did they might not recognize them. They were whipped a lot. they were not allowed to go to school, get married. And if a white person was found teaching them how tom read they would be put to death. If the slaves were caught running away they could be put to death or have there ears cut off.

It took until 1865 for slavery to be illegal in the United States with the 13th amendment to the U.S constitution. In 1865 Abraham Lincoln wanted to keep the states to together and free the slaves. the civil war was fought and the slaves were freed and the states came back together in america.

Race Tensions

Race Tensions

There are still racial tensions in America today. Some cops profile African Americans when they pull them over. Some people think African Americans live in terrible houses and come from from bad family's . Also some people hold on to there belongings when an African american comes and sit s next to them. Also some people lock there doors when an African american walks by or they lock there car.

The legacy of slavery has contributed to these racial tensions. It is hard to forget our country's history of supporting slavery because we are learning about now and the kids of tomorrow will learn about our history to.

One idea i have to improve race relations in America. Is to have a roller coaster that has African Americans and racist people sit next to each other and ride on the ride together. i am hoping that they will have fun and put there differences aside and have fun on the ride and not fight.
