A Message from Superintendent Dr. Lopez about the Tax Rate Election...

“For more than 100 years, Garland ISD has focused on providing an exceptional education. After listening to residents across our community, GISD has placed a Tax Rate Election (TRE) on the November 3rd ballot.

While some school districts have used TREs to increase their property tax rate, GISD is taking a different approach. If the TRE is approved by voters, our new property tax rate would be approximately $1.34 – a nearly .05¢ decrease from last year and a nearly .12¢ decrease from 2018-19. In fact, the tax rate would be the lowest our community has seen
in six years.

The TRE can impact every student at each of our 72 schools and increase their opportunities while providing property tax rate relief for the second year in a row.

Please take a moment to review this video to learn more about our TRE.
Our goal is to make sure you have all the information you need to make an informed vote on November 3rd.”
