Make A Difference In Your Community: Become A Substitute!
Are you looking for a rewarding career working with students? Become a substitute! We're currently looking for substitute teachers, instructional assistants, custodians, and food service staff. Hours are flexible with your schedule and you can pick the days you are available. Please check out our employment opportunities at https://www.rcps.net/en-US/human-resources-08339067 If interested, please fill out the appropriate application for the job and apply for consideration. For substitute teaching, you would fill out a licensed application. For being considered as a substitute instructional assistant, custodian, or food service staff member, you would fill out a classified application. Any questions about the application process itself may be directed to members of the RCPS Human Resources Team at 540-564-3220. Thank you so much for any help you can provide in filling these positions with positive role models who want to make a difference in the lives of RCPS students!
Walk to School Day (Thank You)!
Thank you to everyone who participated in Walk to School Day on Wednesday. We had just under 50 students participate! Walking to school does not just have to be a one day event, it can be a daily activity. If you are interested in your kids continuing to walk to school on a regular basis, please talk with your neighbors to create a safe way to do so where there is at least ONE adult for every 10 students that are walking together.
Parenting Corner (Create A Family Media Plan)
If you’re like me, you pretty much threw in the towel during the pandemic when it came to limiting screen time for your kids! During the strict quarantine period, it was one of the few ways my sons could actually connect with other kids. While it has been a struggle to get my sons back in line with what our family believes about screen time, it has certainly been worth it!
One way you can get your kids back on track is to create a Family Media Plan like the one found on the American Academy of Pediatrics website: https://www.healthychildren.org/English/media/Pages/default.aspx?utm_source=CommonSenseMedia&utm_campaign=DeviceFreeDinners&utm_#home
It is available in both English and Spanish versions as you build one.
While making a Family Media Plan is a great idea, clearly the most effective way to limit your child’s screen time is to limit yours and model the behavior you expect of your kids! October is an excellent time to unplug and spend time in our beautiful valley!

they have a bad cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, a runny nose that will soil more than 2 masks per day
Someone in your household is sick and being tested for COVID

If you are unsure of household contact or have any questions if your child should attend school please call the office at 540-438-1965 and ask to speak with the Nurse.
Please refer to the following Daily Home Screening tool before sending your child.
Face coverings are required to be worn indoors at all times, in accordance with the state public health order date August 12, 2021, other than mask breaks and designated eating times. Face coverings are to be worn regardless of social distancing. Teachers will help/train students, as needed, to wear face coverings according to these guidelines. Parents are responsible for providing students with face masks.
Students that do not comply with wearing a face covering will be sent to the office. If the issue cannot be resolved, the student will be placed in an area distanced from others to wait until a parent picks them up.
The parent portal is an online portal accessible anywhere on the web that parents can log in to and see all of their children in one place, their grades, assignments, scores, attendance, schedules, and teacher comments for each school your children attend.
Parents need to contact the school to get access information to create an account in PowerSchool.
