From One Wildcat to Another...

Happy New Year! It is a NEW year--filled with 365 wonderful opportunities and possibilities!

I hope this newsletter finds everyone well and joyful. We are in the second half of the school year and are ready for all the wonderful things that lie ahead!

Please find the schedule of events for Catholic Schools Week (January 28, 2023-February 4, 2023) below. This faith-filled week will be filled with extra academic enrichments, CYO cultural events, service, community-building fun, and liturgical celebrations. Our opening mass for Catholic Schools Week is Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 4:30. It will be held at the big church on Boyertown Pike. We ask that all be in attendance for this opening celebration. Families do not need to be parishioners of St. Catharine of Siena Parish. This is for students and our SCS families. There will be an art show in the social hall comprised of your student's artwork. Science Fair boards will also be displayed. We invite you to an hour of prayer and community Saturday, January 28, 2023, beginning at 4:30. Students can wear SCS Spirit Wear, CYO gear, or their formal uniform. If your student has an active role in the liturgy, they are required to wear their formal uniform. We look forward to seeing many of our SCS students with their families in attendance. Thank you for all you do. Saint Catharine of Siena, pray for us.

The week will be filled with various academic activities and lots of fun things to do. Please see the attached flyer below so you and your family are in the know.

Thank you for all you do today, tomorrow, and always. Saint Catharine of Siena, pray for us.

STEM Spotlight

Comparing 3 nucleation materials (yarn, string and pipe cleaners) on ionic crystal formation of sodium borate (Borax) salts from a supersaturated solution. Photos were taken with our new Zoomies--handheld digital microscopes.

PRE-K INVESTIGATIONS

What an exciting day learning about snow and ice! PreK learned about the life cycle of a snowflake, observed snowflakes under a magnifying glass, and measured snowflakes with cubes. The experiment was a big hit as well, we learned whether salt or sugar would melt ice and in another experiment where we made predictions as to what would happen to our snowman over the course of the day. There was an Arctic rescue where we tried to remove animals from the ice, and fake snow that made snowballs!
