Before making a decision to cancel school, EPS administrators monitor and review road , parking lot conditions, temperatures and precipitation amounts. When schools must be closed due to inclement weather, the following considerations are important:

  • EPS endeavors to announce its decision to close between 5-5:15 a.m. and will post that information to the district's social media platforms, school websites, via EPS text messaging and will share it with local media. When possible, EPS will decide on closure the evening before classes and activites are canceled.
  • When weather conditions develop during the school day, schools will NOT be dismissed early because thousands of parents work and students could potentially be arriving home to a locked house.
  • If the weather starts to deteriorate during the school day, parents may pick up their student(s) early. Missed school will count as an absence.

As the weather gets colder. PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND A COAT, HATS AND GLOVES WITH YOUR CHILD! We will have outside recess if the temperature/wind chill is 32 degrees or above. And if you write your child’s name in your coats and other items, we can return it when it’s lost!

Hello Heritage Families,

This year we are hoping to invite you to practice some of our Great Expectations concepts at HOME! Each week in S’MORE, we will be sharing our Life Principle, it’s definition, and a quote by a famous Oklahoman or one relating to our heritage. Life principles are character principles that we are teaching the students. We focus on a Life Principle for 2 weeks. We encourage YOU to discuss the Life Principle and practice using it. For enrichment, some families may enjoy doing a little research and learning about the person/people who gave us the quote. By partnering together, we can help children learn valuable character skills that will help them succeed as students and as adults.

Student absences must be called in or reported by 3:00pm the day of the absence or before. The program that the State of Oklahoma uses does not allow us to explain any absences afterward. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Please feel free to report absences to our attendance line. It's open 24-hours a day.

Attendance Line: (405) 726-4969

This year our district is adding some additional safety layers to campuses to help keep us safe. Please remember that in the morning before school,

  • Parents are welcome to walk students to the redbud tree, gym, or cafeteria. Parents may not walk students to class.
  • The red bud tree is not an after school pick-up option. Parents are welcome to pick students up at walk-up/pick-up at media center door (please use the crosswalk), neighborhood (remember to stay in your car), or car rider.

Thank you for working together to keep all of our precious children safe.
