Performance-Based Assessments
Making them REAL and PRACTICAL for your Gr6-12 classroom!
Is our goal as educators for students to know information just long enough to score well on a test, or is the goal for students to learn lessons for life? We should be teaching our students life-long skills they can use and draw upon when needed. This involves real-world, authentic learning and assessment. The Southern Indiana Education Center is here to help ALL Gr6-12 teachers through the process of learning performance-based assessment strategies and application. Julie Monetta, SIEC Director of Educator Support, and DeAnne Taggart, Director of Professional Learning, are joining together to facilitate this day packed full of strategies and support. Participants can expect to learn:
- the definition of performance-based (vs. Project-based and problem-based).
- the types and advantages.
- how to successfully teach and integrate.
- how to successfully evaluate.
- how to make authentic performance-based assessments.
Additionally, Julie Monetta or DeAnne Taggart will follow-up for one visit to your classroom to observe and offer guidance during the performance-based process and application. Participants will also receive their own copy of Performance-Based Assessment for 21st Century Skills by Todd Stanley.
