Marriage Equality

Why does marriage equality cause so much contraversey?

Life Without Labels

"Marriage equality for LGBT people is a civil right that they have been deprived of (Baker)."

This is something that I see when I look at today's society. Everything and everyone is organized in these groups so it is easier for society to move on. The goverenment does this a lot so they can ensure they have control over society. Then everything seems to have labels such as, clerks, teachers, parents, and so on. It is like the labels kids get at school but in society. I learned this from my therapist Suzan who has her PhD. in psychology

Some things people are doing to try and help the LGBT community is by starting to legalize marriage for all people. "We have marriage equality in 37 states. Judge Walker is dealing with the 14th amendment being violated through the banning same-sex marriage says (Court Rules Against Key Part Of Gay Marriage Law."All Things Considered 31 May 2012. Junior Edition. Web. 29 May 2015)." The 14th amendment states that, "It is states citizenship rights and equal protection of laws.....(Google.com).

Advantages Same-Sex Couples Don't Have

There are federal laws that deny legal benfits for same-sex married couples. "For example, social security survivors awards, health care benfits, and tax advantages are denied according to (Court Rules Against Key Part Of Gay Marriage Law."All Things Considered 31 May 2012. Junior Edition. Web. 29 May 2015)." This is a form of bigotry and unfairness which is not what this country needs.

The DMOA or (Defense Of Marriage Act) helps same-sex couples who are deprived of equal treatment. It gives LGBT people the right to say to their boss, "You are not paying me equally to everyone else, and you are treating me disrespectfully, and if you don't, I will have to report you for bigotry." This is a huge deal because this means that everyone has to be treated equally at work no matter their sexual orientation according to (Baker).
