Selkirk Middle School - September 27, 2019
Welcome to Selkirk!
Selkirk Student Support Center
The over-arching goal of Selkirk’s Student Support Center is to help students develop the necessary skills, attributes and knowledge to be successful students. The center is located right next to the counselor’s office, and is supervised by our support specialist, Mrs. Townsend.
Students and parents can request a referral to the center from any of our teacher(s). Mrs. Townsend then works with the referring teachers to assure the student has the right assignments, resources, and personalized support to get back on track.
Beginning October 1st, our Student Support Center will be open extended hours:
- Tuesday after school: 2:45-3:30

Character Strong!
Last week, through CharacterStrong's advisory curriculum, students were asked to be intentional and think about all the awesome people at our school. They were challenged to make someone's day by simply sharing their smile and saying "hi" to someone in the hall. "Hi" is a small word, but it can be a powerful one!
This week, during Advisory, our students will identify ways that people can work on developing their good character. Students will be introduced to eight essential components of good character: patience, kindness, humility, respect, selflessness, forgiveness, honesty and commitment.
NEW DATE!! Annual Parent Preview for Grades 6-12 Sexual Health Curriculum

Please note: This is not new curriculum and the topics covered for the 2019-20 school year are the same as what has been taught in previous years.
