I Am Plano ISD
This year, students in Plano ISD are invited to participate in our district 2019 Diversity Celebration: A Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary Writing Contest. This year, the Art Department and the Elementary Language Arts Department teamed up in order to provide more dimension to this year's theme: "I Am Plano ISD". As you already know, the students have been working on the writing piece in class this week. We used the picture below as they were brainstorming and developing ideas. The students may turn in their handwritten or typed final copy tomorrow. The art work submission is completely optional.
Math
We have completed the division unit and we are testing today. We will begin one step equations using addition and subtraction.
We sincerely hope that this break is a restful time for you and your family. If you have some free time to spare, you might consider having your child sharpen his/her math skills by completing the Thanksgiving Challenge . Each student has received a hard copy of Thanksgiving Challenge from his/her math teacher. If your days are busy, please feel free to opt out. :-)
Marble Run!
Tomorrow we will be performing the Marble Run Challenge. This activity relates to our science unit on force, motion, friction, and gravity.
Please send in materials for the Marble Run. This can include paper towel rolls, toilet paper rolls, cardboard, trifolds, poster board, paper plates, paper cups, water bottles, caps, legos, kleenex boxes, etc. Don't feel like you have to buy anything for this. You can simply use things hanging around your house! If needed, materials will be sent back with your child on Friday.
We are looking forward to this STEM day!
Cafeteria
While our school cafeteria is under construction, our space is very limited during lunch time. We need to make sure all of our students have a place to sit and enjoy their lunch. Our limited space means we cannot accommodate parents inside the cafeteria during cold or rainy days. When the weather is nice, you are more than welcome to eat with your child outside once this semester on the patio through the back door of the cafeteria.
We are looking forward to our cafeteria (and the cafeteria rules) returning to normal during the second semester. Once we get word that the construction is completed, we will let you know, and you are more than welcome to eat with us inside the cafeteria or on the patio.
