This week's Smore photo album highlights the fun that was experienced this past Friday! I want to send a special shout-out to the Holiday Shoppe parent coordinators and the Luce CAPT for providing great programming to the Luce Community. THANK YOU!

Luce School Updates
Hour of Code
In celebrating Computer Science Education Week, the Luce school has joined millions of students around the world by participating in the Hour of Code event. This month, each class will cumulatively complete one hour of coding with Mr. Evans in technology class. Kindergarten through second grade will be using Kodable on their iPads, while third grade through fifth grade will be using code.org on their Chromebooks. Both platforms give our students ample opportunities to learn and apply knowledge and skills in computer science, computational thinking, problem solving, predicting, debugging, and creativity through coding.
When possible and appropriate, students are encouraged to extend their learning outside of the classroom. Both Kodable (K-2) and Code.org (3-5) have additional activities that students can explore and complete independently at home. Please reach out to Mr. Evans (evansw@cantonma.org) if you would like assistance accessing these activities, especially if your child uses a different device at home (i.e. not their school iPad or Chromebook).
For more information on the Hour of Code event, go to hourofcode.com.
See the table below for each grade's scheduled activities this month.
Happy coding!

Hello Luce Families!
We had such amazing success at our spring book fair we wanted to offer our students another opportunity to fall in love with a book just in time for winter break!
Choose. Read. Repeat. Your kids make the rules at the book fair. Empower them with "book choice" at our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair from Monday, December 12th through Friday, December 16th! Students in grades 1-5 will visit the fair at their regular library time. Our Kindergarten friends are invited to a special family event on Thursday, December 15th. If you have any questions please reach out to Mrs. Carty at Cartyj@cantonma.org

Nurse Bonner's Notes
We have all been hearing about the triple threat of RSV, Influenza and COVID19 this season. We have discussed before good infection control of good hand washing and covering your sneeze (I like to tell the kids to dab into their sleeve or get your chicken wing up). What else can we do? You can also consider getting you and your family the influenza and COVID19 vaccines. If you have a child who is fearful of needles and kicks and screams when they get their shots here are some good tips to alleviate the stress around needles.
