WHAT STORY DO YOU TELL YOURSELF?
Reflecting on the story Jake Thompson told about Jim Thorpe, I began to question what story I would have told myself in that moment in time....
Deep down, I know that the 'shoe' doesn't give you the speed. Oh sure, I would definitely finish a race faster in sprinting shoes than high heels; but one will only reach a certain top speed even with the best, most expensive pair of shoes and socks. However, we can slow ourself down by speaking failure into a situation before we even start. Would I have worried about racing in mismatched, borrowed and trashed shoes and socks - probably so....but I hope I would then get over myself and decide to control the controllables and run the best race I have trained for.
That is my wish for us - tell yourself a story of success, control your controllables and pound the pavement one stride at a time.

CAMERON PERSON SIGNS TO PLAY SOFTBALL IN COLLEGE
Cameron signed to play with National Park College located in Hot Springs, Arkansas beginning next fall. Cameron has worked hard to earn the right to play at the next level - I wish her the best!

I stepped into the band hall at BHS this week and was lucky enough to hear the band play. Mr. Williard and Mr. Chavez are doing a great job preparing their musicians for the next contest.
