Big picture

Electives at Clear Creek

In 6th grade, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of elective classes throughout the school year. Electives will change every trimester (12 weeks). Students can choose a combination of one full year (Band) and one Elective Wheel, or two Elective Wheel classes. Elective Wheel classes may be a combination of Art, STEAM, Choir, and Computer Science Exploration. There is no choice on where to start in the wheel, as it is based on our Master Schedule. Please note, some elective content may be subject to change due to restrictions that may be in place due to Covid-19.

If your student qualifies for a support class (ELD, Math Lab, ELA Lab), they may only have one elective, and in some cases may not have room in their schedule for an elective.

At this time, we do not yet know what our school day will look like in the fall. Typically, we have 7 class periods plus lunch and recess. Depending on the health guidance relating to COVID-19, we will be in-person, hybrid, or distance learning in the fall.

Forecasting

Soon, our counselor will be virtually visiting 5th-grade classrooms to talk about the middle school experience at Clear Creek. Forecasting forms will be sent through email to parents in early May.

Meet Our 6th Grade Counselor, Ms. Locke!

Ms. Locke has been a Counselor in the district for 18 years. Middle School is a time for tremendous growth- academic, personal, and social. I love middle schoolers because they have a great sense of humor, they are working on finding their voice, and they are trying out independence. I'm excited to meet all of my incoming students and families. I have a genuine belief that all families want the absolute best for their children and I can't wait to partner with you to support your child's development during the middle years. Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns: She can be reached at: locke10@gresham.k12.or.us
