Valentine's Day Celebration - This Friday

We will be having a Valentine's Day Celebration on Friday, February 12th. Please let me know if you would like to plan and host the celebration.

We will be exchanging cards on that day. Please have your child make or provide a card for every student in the class. Treats or small gifts are welcome as well as long as all students receive the treat or gift. I do request that students provide special gifts for their special friends outside of class as to not hurt anyone's feelings. Thanks for understanding.

You are also welcome to make a special box for the Valentines with your child to bring that day. If you are unable to make a box, I will have them make a Valentines bag to hold their goodies.

The students in our class are Alan, Brinley, Corbyn, Dawson, Emma, Gavyn, Jose, Kia, Madison, Madyson and Taylor.

Parent Teacher Conferences - Thursday, February 18th and Friday, February 19th

Please see that note your child is taking home today regarding the upcoming parent teacher conferences.

At the conference we will be sharing lots of information regarding your child's strengths and their areas of growth. Thank you for coming to the conference prepared to ask questions about what we are doing in school to support your child and what you can do at home to support your child. We will be going over their MAPS (Measure of Academic Progress) and DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Early Literacy Skills). If you would like to look at these reports prior to the conference, call, email or message me and I will get you a copy.

I am looking forward to seeing at this conference. BUT also remember to contact me with any questions, concerns or joys at anytime!

Reading, High Frequency Words and Spelling

This is a review week for us so no new reading or spelling skills this week. We will be taking a unit assessment this week.

As we review will be having discussions about Presidents as we prepare for President's Day next week.

Math

We are skill working on the same skill as last week; practicing counting numbers from 0 to 120. We will be practicing skip counting, recognizing counting patterns and writing numbers in a counting pattern. Practice counting by ones, twos, fives and tens with your child at home starting at any numbers between 0 and 120. Have them practice counting up and down in these patterns.

We will also start talking more about place value and learning our tens and one place value. Here is fun computer game to help with this concept. (https://goo.gl/VDsF26)
