Progress Reports
Progress reports will be uploaded to Powerschool today. Paper copies will NOT be sent home, so it is up to parents to be sure to check their students' Powerschool accounts to see how they are doing. Please call the school office if you have any questions: 708.895.1661.
Uniform Reminders
Our uniform policy will be strictly enforced beginning Monday, September 28. Students have been observed wearing stretch pants, leggings, jeggings, or black jeans which are not part of our uniform policy. Everyone who wears pants must wear black dress pants (Dockers-style is fine--no jeans or cargo pants) with a black belt--this includes ALL students from 1st-8th grade. Girls that do not have a uniform skirt must wear black dress pants and a gray shirt. Pencil or tight and short skirts are also not allowed. All socks must cover your ankles. Uniform shoes must be all black, even if it is a gym shoe, no marking of any other color can be on the shoe. Our gym day is every Wednesday, and students may wear any color gym shoes at that time. If a student is not dressed properly for gym they may not participate in class. If you do not have a gym uniform then your student must wear green or black sweatpants (no leggings of any kind) or green or black basketball-style shorts with a gray top. St. Ann’s has a number of gym pieces in our Used Uniform Shoppe, please contact Mrs. Summerrise for details. Students who repeatedly violate this policy will be given after-school detention.
Leaders are Readers
Wednesday, September 30 at 5:00 p.m.
We want to invite all PreK through 2nd Graders to join our 8th Graders for Leaders Are Readers via Google Meet, a literacy reading program designed just for them. Parents may log in their young scholars that day at 5:00 p.m. here:
https://meet.google.com/lookup/hmzp7dscki
Mrs. Rivas and Mrs. Sypole will be our teacher moderators. We will begin offering the program twice per month, and on the early release days, it will take place at 3:00 p.m. One week, our 8th Grade volunteers will read and dress up as characters, and the next session the younger students will step into the reading role. 8th Graders can earn Confirmation service hours for their participation. For more information, please email Mrs. Gonzalez at EGonzalez@stannschoollansing.org.
Renew My Church Forum
We know you have many questions and comments regarding the Renew My Church process St. Ann has entered into with seven other south suburban parishes. Due to COVID-19 restrictions on large gatherings, we will be unable to host one big Town Hall Meeting for all interested parishioners and school families at one time. So we are providing several options, including a virtual session for those who are unable to attend or nervous to gather in person:
Virtual Zoom Meeting: Thursday, October 1, 7:00 p.m.
We can accommodate up to 100 people on the Zoom meeting. All attendees must register in advance for the meeting at http://bit.ly/stanntownhallzoom. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about how to join the meeting. Reserve your spot asap!
Live Meetings in Church After Weekend Masses:
Saturday, October 3, 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 4, 9:30 & 11:30 a.m.
If you preregister for any of these masses at https://bit.ly/StAnnMassReservation or by calling the Parish Office at 708.895.6700, then you need to do nothing more, and you are welcome to remain in your seat for the meeting. If you wish to attend a Town Hall session as a walk-in, then you must provide your name, phone, and email to an usher as you enter. MASKS ARE REQUIRED OF EVERYONE WHILE INSIDE THE CHURCH BUILDING. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
RMC Information: Consolidation of parishes because of declining finances and attendance at Mass throughout the Chicago Archdiocese is a harsh reality, and many of the parishes in our Renew My Church grouping, including St. Ann, may be consolidated with other churches by the Archdiocese. A set of initial scenarios that show potential models of how parishes and schools could be configured in the near future have been developed considering parish demographics, attendance, financial position, and building conditions. The Archdiocese needs your input and feedback on the initial scenarios. A description of these scenarios may be found on our website here. Please read and consider them, and then take the feedback survey found here. This is what we will be discussing at the Town Hall Meetings. Thank you!
No School
Friday, October 2
Enjoy another short week as our teachers engage in professional development today!Chromebooks Reminder
Chromebooks should come to school daily with a full charge, and students should also bring their chargers every day in order to complete their class assignments. Students who repeatedly violate this policy will be given after-school detention.
E-Learning Request
Many of our e-learners are having a difficult time hearing their teachers' instruction because a number of students are forgetting to mute their computers. Please make sure your child stays muted throughout the lesson so everyone can hear the teacher and learn at the same time.
