#TeamHarv Scouting Report
Week of September 28 - October 2
Life Principle of the Week
"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" -Eleanor Roosevelt
The Weeks in Review
In Science, we spent the last few weeks in our environments and ecosystems learning about how energy flows within the system. From deserts to forests, and oceans to tundras, we learned about the properties that make each ecosystem what it is! Then, we reviewed how all the energy comes from the Sun and is transferred within the food web from producers to consumers, and finally to decomposers. The flow of energy may look different in each food web, so our kids got the chance to design two of their own for deserts and rainforests. Take a look at their digital work below!
In Social Studies, we finished all of our Culture squares and those are in the process of being assembled into one group for each class to represent the class as a whole. Hopefully, from this our students came to realize that everyone is from somewhere and what makes our nation so great is we value and respect every person's heritage and culture!
Pine Cove is coming!
To help follow our adventure at Pine Cove, the staff there does a tremendous job of documenting each group as they go about their day! They post pictures to Facebook to help parents back home see what their child is experiencing!
The Pine Cove staff will capture our groups each day and upload these photos each evening to a custom photo album on the Pine Cove IWS Facebook page. The album will be specific to Austin Elementary is a fantastic way for school staff and parents back home to check in to see their kids enjoying their time at camp each day.
Here are the steps to access our photos---

Grades
We don't have a ton of grades so far this 9-weeks, so the grades you do see on Progress Reports are heavily inflated by few results. That will change over the course of the next few weeks, but just keep that in mind. As always, if you have any questions about your child's progress please do not hesitate to ask.
**If you are wondering how to log into Schoology, you should have received an email with a temporary password on September 3rd from Schoology.
