Testing for COVID-19
At home test kits are a convenient way to test your child or yourself for Covid-19. Please see the following guidance for at home Covid-19 test kits:
BinaxNow Antigen Card or Ag Card (these tests are given out by schools, libraries, churches, other places too)
Require an app to be downloaded and to be done in conjunction with a telehealth visit.
When done properly with the telehealth visit, this can be accepted as a positive test at school. Or if negative, when tested between days 5 and 7, can be accepted to end quarantine on day 8.
These results should come up in the app, and a screenshot can be sent to the School Nurse.
If the test is not completed with telehealth (we see this is if someone doesn’t download the app, just tests themselves) we cannot accept these results (positive or negative) as they were not proctored in the manner in which they were intended/approved.
Self Tests (BinaxNow Self Test, Ellume or some other brands)
Available over the counter at places like CVS or Walgreens where there is no app to be downloaded or telehealth visit component
Cannot be accepted as a negative for someone who is trying to end their quarantine after day 7. The packing inserts indicate that they are not designed for that type of situation where a proof of negative is required
Chromebook Insurance....
Coverage and Benefit
This annual agreement covers the Chromebook or iPad (“device”) loaned to the student against any accidental damage and/or repair costs. This agreement costs $40 per device per school year for a total of $400 worth of repairs, replacement and/or labor costs. Any costs above and beyond $400 will the responsibility of the parents/guardians/student. The charger is NOT covered and is the sole responsibility of the student/parent. Coverage is 24 hours per day. Damage(s) due to intentional, reckless, willful, wanton and/or malicious conduct is not covered. Lost devices will not be covered by the technology protection plan. Stolen devices will be covered by the technology protection plan as long as the parent/guardian submits to PLSD a filed police report for the stolen device. The Technology Protection Plan will cover damage and repairs for loaner devices but will count towards the total allowed for the TPP.
Effective Date and Expiration
Coverage is effective from the date this technology protection plan is purchased through Infinite Campus. Subject to immediate termination for the failure to timely pay the premium, the coverage shall end on the date that the device is required to be returned to the school, whether or not that device is returned to the school by that date. This is an annual plan.
Premium & How to Purchase the Technology Protection Plan
The premium cost is $40 for the 2020-21school year, for this OPTIONAL coverage, and the premium will not be prorated. This premium will be added to your child’s account at the start of the school year. Payment is due by September 24, 2021 for the plan to be in effect. Coverage will be removed for those students whose parents/guardians do not pay this premium by September 24, 2021. Payment may be made via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, or at your child’s school.
The Technology Protection Plan is non-refundable. Administration, in its sole discretion, will determine if damages were due to intentional, reckless, willful, wanton and/or malicious conduct (please see PLSD Technology website for more specific information). This is an annual plan, previously purchased PLSD Technology Protection Plans will NOT cover the new school year. The Technology Protection Plan is not subject to waiver for free and reduced students as it is totally an OPTIONAL fee; students/parents are NOT required to have this coverage.
A reminder this is an annual plan and does NOT extend from one school year to the next.

Bowl for Kids Sale event
Big Brothers Big Sisters has set up a Pickerington Bowl for Kids’ Sake event for September 18th and 19th. They are looking for teacher/school teams to fill the lanes. BBBS has a traveling trophy for the school that brings the most teams and one for the person that raises the most money. The Team Packet is attached. All money raised will support the school-based program in Pickerington. There is also a website for teams to sign up and raise money. They can even raise money on their social media if they are not going to bowl as well as a place for virtual bowlers to just raise funds. If you have any questions, please contact Jolyn Pugh.

Assistance with school fee update
If the student is new to the district or with a change in circumstance, please have them submit an application here for the 2021-22 school year:
https://www.schoolnutritionandfitness.com/index.php?page=lunchapps&sid=1468598051693
This link will direct them to the district website's free/reduced meal application form.
You will notice this statement on the page: FREE AND REDUCED APPLICATIONS SHOULD ONLY BE SUBMITTED FOR STUDENTS NEW TO OUR DISTRICT OR WITH A CHANGE IN CIRCUMSTANCE.
All students who qualified for an academic fee waiver in the 2020-21 school year are automatically granted the same academic fee waiver in the 2021-22 school year. Again, the only people who need to complete an application are new students to our district or those with a change in circumstance. Filling out this application is the quickest way for us to qualify them for a waiver in academic fees.
