PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Will Rogers Parents and Guardians,
We held another successful Cinco De Mayo Festival. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped make the event a success. Many hands make light work! Please join us for our PTA meeting Wednesday, May 10th @ 6:00pm via zoom.
May 8th - 12th is Staff/Teacher Appreciation. Read the flyer below to see how you can help express your gratitude to our teachers and staff! Please consider working with your children to bring their teacher a small token of appreciation. There is something fun planned for each day of the week. My appreciation for the staff at our great school is endless! It is an honor and a privilege to work alongside the nearly 100 staff members who work together to make Rogers an engaging, enriching, safe, and joyful place for our young scholars. I have been so proud of the professionalism, unity, and compassion they have demonstrated merging two communities this year. Please join me this week in celebrating this remarkable group of people!
Our first week of 3rd- 5th grade testing was a success. This week, students will take the Mathematics CAASPP assessments. Please be sure your children get enough rest at night, eat a great breakfast and arrive to school ON TIME. If your child arrives after their classroom testing session begins, they will need to wait in the office until the testing session concludes.
This Tuesday at 6:00 pm via zoom, join us for our 1st Will Rogers Parent Series Workshop. This is an ongoing, drop-in support group for all parents! Come meet others and connect to our community. This week we will discuss tips and tools for navigating student emotions.
There are only 25 school days remaining this year! Let's make them special for our kids!
Together for Will Rogers,
Ms. Daruty

Ms. Aceves student performance
Principal of the Day Mr. Henry Miller!

Incoming Kinder Students for the 2023-24 school year!
Do you have an incoming Kinder student for the 2023-24 school year? Have you completed an enrollment packet?
THIS EVENT IS NOT FOR CURRENTLY ENROLLED TK STUDENTS. WE ALREADY KNOW THOSE FRIENDS! :)
A large part of Kindergarten is building community. We want all students to be as comfortable as possible. We understand that this is a big day for our students. While most anxiety quickly turns to excitement and joy, one means for us to create a welcoming environment is to get to know students prior to the first day of school. As such, on May 16th and May 18th, our amazing Kindergarten teachers will host a “Getting to Know You” event. This event will allow Kindergarten teachers to spend some time with students “getting to know them!” This time includes a story, some art projects, and opportunity to play. Our teachers will make some informal observations as a means to understand each child as best as we can. This information is then used to create balanced classes.
The details for the event are below:
Who: Incoming Kindergarten students and their parents
What: Getting to Know You event (students will be with teachers and parents with administration)
When: Tuesday, May 16th and Thursday, May 18th from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Where: The Will Rogers Kindergarten Yard (2401 14th Street)
'
Sign-up Here for one of the two sessions (May 16th or May 18th).

Oops, I Forgot!
Mornings are busy and sometimes students leave for school without their water bottle, instrument or homework. In an effort to reduce classroom interruptions and to support students with developing responsibility, please use our "Oops, I forgot" table. Make a plan with your child that if they leave something at home, a parent can drop it off in the office. We will place their item on a table outside the office. During their recess or on their way to lunch, they may check the table for their forgotten item.
Please communicate this plan with your child, so they know there is place for parents to drop-off items they may have left at home!
PLEASE DO NOT HAVE FOOD DELIVERED TO YOUR CHILD AT SCHOOL THROUGH A FOOD DELIVERY SERVICE. This brings unfamiliar adults and more traffic to our already busy office.
Please do not forget to send with your child every day:
- Backpack with necessary classroom materials (teacher will communicate)
- Re-useable water bottle. We have filling stations on campus.
- Morning recess snack
- Lunch (lunch available to all students free of charge for the 2022-23 school year.)
- Sunscreen (put on prior to arriving at school)
- Hat
- Layers of clothing (sweatshirt, windbreaker, etc.) Keep an eye on the weather.
*Please do not bring toys, Pokemon cards or PE equipment to school. We will provide your children all the learning tools needed to have a great day!
