A Message from Superintendent Dr. Shawn M. Olson
It certainly seems strange to say this at the beginning of November, but welcome back to our Hybrid learners! We have successfully completed the first three days of in-person learning! I can not express how great it was to see students in classrooms again. Although school still looks different than it did in March, we are definitely working to get back to normal. Our Remote learners did great in their transition as well, and it was nice to see smiling faces on screens in Remote classrooms. The first few days met with what I would term typical issues, and I would like to thank you all for your patience as we work toward improving our arrival and dismissal procedures and refining our transportation routes.
The metrics are rising in our area and the State in general. We are tracking the numbers within our schools and watching the numbers in Tinley Park, Orland Park, and Orland Hills. We will follow the direction of the State on remaining open, but District metrics will be used to make decisions on a building-by-building basis. At this point, there is no plan to close any buildings in the District. Please consult our Covid-19 Dashboard for specific information regarding our District metrics.
Thank you again for your partnership!
Dr. Shawn M. Olson
Superintendent
Parent/Teacher Conferences - November 23 and 24 via Zoom
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held virtually via Zoom on Monday, November 23 from 1 - 8 p.m. and Tuesday, November 24 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. These one-to-one virtual meetings are a great way for you to ask questions and review your student's academic, social, and behavioral progress in school. If neither of these days fit into your schedule, please feel free to contact your child's teacher to schedule a conference on a different day. Look for information regarding the signup process in your Principal's newsletter during the week of November 9.
D140 COVID-19 Dashboard
As we prepare to welcome students back to in-person learning on November 4th, we’ve added a COVID-19 Dashboard to our Update Center.
The dashboard will provide the community with current information regarding districtwide positive COVID-19 cases and quarantine information. It will be updated each Friday by 10:00 am.
