Husky Happenings
August 19 - 23
From Mr. Martin
Carloop:
There are changes in the process for drop off and pick up. It is a change that we hope will keep traffic off Grand street. Our basic design never changes, a counter clockwise loop with students exiting the passenger side of the vehicle.
What we have learned:
--The AM runs pretty smoothly with little need for any need for two lanes of traffic followed by the ‘zipper’ to drop off on the right.
--The pm does need these changes. We do form two lanes of traffic followed by the ‘zipper’ to drop off on the right.
--In the PM, it is still OK to pick up in the parking lot. You will need to not use the traffic loop and instead enter the parking lot by going straight and turning right. The conflict arises when you are late because you will be facing a lot of existing traffic. Be early and eliminate this conflict.
DRESS CODE
Please see pages 16 & 17 in the student agenda. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we addressed several concerns with dress code. This is an issue with an undergarment referred to as a bralette. Remember, this is considered an undergarment and meets the criteria of ‘allows the undergarment to show’. We also addressed a few issues of tube tops that are also not school appropriate.

Kindness Club
The Kindness will be a new club this year at TRMS.
The focus will be instilling a culture of Kindness within the TRMS community.
This club is for students in 5th-8th gr.
The first meeting will be on Tues. Aug. 29th @ 7:30 am in the Forum.
From Nurse Rhea:
Parents of 7th Grade Students: Please remember to send documentation of your student’s Tdap and Meningococcal immunizations to our office. These immunizations are mandatory for all 7th grade students to attend school in the state of Kansas.
Remember - If your student will be taking/keeping medications in the health room, a NEW physician’s order is required. Last year’s orders will NOT work. This includes diabetic orders, seizure action plans, and asthma/allergy action plans.
Students will only be allowed to self carry their inhalers or epi pens if there is a current order on file that specifically grants this permission. Otherwise, the medication will be kept in the health room.
Please feel free to call the office if you have any questions or concerns.

Husky Pack Program
As we begin the 2019-20 school year we look to continue the Husky PACK (Peer Acceptance Caring and Kindness) program. We are excited to add new members this year along with working alongside last year’s members.
For information, contact the counseling office.
CLOSE-OUT SPIRIT GEAR!
Student Council 5th Grade Reps Wanted!
NEW from StuCo UNITY Committee:
Class Color tee and SWAG Pack! Show your Husky PRIDE! In order to show unity across grade levels we are offering class color tees; each grade has their own color, but we have the same design to represent we are one big Husky Family! Class colors: 8th Navy, 7th Gold, 6th Gray, 5th White. Every Friday of a SPIRIT WEEK will be a class color day (pep assembly days). We will also promote random class color days when you will have the chance to win prizes for wearing your class color. SWAG Pack is like a "spirit subscription"- pay once, but receive fun & spirited items throughout the school year! This replaces Gym Jam... our goal is to have students at EVERY HOME GAME and you can get SWAG throughout the year instead of one big game. There will be drawings for SWAG Pack members--attend games and get more chances to win! Think of it as a pep club/spirit club.
See order form. We are working on the possibility of an on-line order. This program is new, so thank you for your patience! GO HUSKIES!
GOING TO THE TRMS GAMES?!
GEHS FOOTBALL GAMES
Gardner Edgerton High School is excited to invite PRMS, TRMS and WMS students to all of the outstanding athletic competitions that the high school has to offer. However, it is expected that middle school students abide by the following expectations while attending events at the high school:
1. Students are expected to sit on the bleachers that have been designated for middle school students. This year, during the football season, seating will be on the north west corner of the football field in the lower rows of bleachers. Failure to sit in the designated areas will result in students having to be seated with their parents or, if no parent is present, being removed from the game.
2. No students will be allowed to play on the grass or sidewalk around the stadium. If found in these areas, students will be asked to sit with their parents or, if no parent is present, being removed from the game.
3. School-appropriate behavior is expected from student attendees. Any student caught using foul language and/or participating in actions deemed inappropriate by any Gardner Edgerton district staff member will be removed from the game.
The Gardner Edgerton High School staff thanks all students in advance for their cooperation and compliance with their expectations presented in this letter. We look forward to having you at the games to cheer on the Blazers!
GEYCP MIDDLE SCHOOL KICKBALL TOURNAMENT
Each year the Gardner Edgerton High School Cheerleaders host a cheer camp for individuals in grades K-6. We are proud to say that GEHS cheerleaders have been hosting this camp and "Building Blazers" for over twenty years!
This program is divided into two parts: a clinic and a game.
On Wednesday, September 18th, we will host the clinic at GEHS from 5:30 pm-8:00 pm. Check In will be from 5:00 pm-5:30 pm in the Auxiliary Gym at GEHS. The cheerleaders will teach our Little Blazers chants, cheers and safe stunting.
On Friday, September 20th, the Little Blazers will attend the home football game versus Lawrence High School. They will be cheering on the track with the high school cheerleaders during the first quarter of the game. If the game on Friday, September 20th should be rained out, the make-up game will take place on Friday, October 4th.
The cost is $40 which includes a cheer t-shirt, bow and poms to be used/worn at the game. One adult will be admitted for free the night of the game.
Early registration deadline to enroll is Friday, September 6th. GEYCP is helping with enrollments and will only be taking online registrations.
