Mission Statement
The mission of Roger Q. Mills Elementary School is to provide a quality education for ALL students that supports academic achievement, promotes integrity, builds healthy self-esteem, embraces intrinsic motivation, and encourages successful study habits. Our goal is to develop college-ready students who will be contributing successors in our communities and beyond.
Principal's Message:
Happy Holidays to each of you!! As we enter this holiday season, there are many thoughts of family and giving. It’s also a time to look back on 2015 and be thankful for our many blessings and make plans for 2016. I am delighted to work with such a great team who wants the very best for our students. Thank you for all that you do.

K-2 Literacy Laureate
Ace K-2 Literacy Training! This week’s session is scheduled for Monday, December 14th at Pease ES from 4:15- 5:45 PM. Class coverage will be provided for teachers attending this training. See you there!
Achieve 3000
Congratulations Ms. Shannon-Berry & 5D! They won the Read to Succeed contest by earning the most points per student. Achieve 3000 has rewarded them with a gift card.

Remember, that grades 3-5 will be able to come to the library after testing, on their regular day. Grades k-2 will be going to the computer lab during their specials rotation.
AR prizes for this six weeks will be awarded during the awards ceremony in January.

TumbleBooks
Tumblebooks reads books aloud to students, and is an excellent resource for Daily 5.About the TumbleBookLibrary:
The TBL is a collection of TumbleBooks (animated, talking picture books) with fiction, non-fiction and foreign language titles, Read-Alongs (chapter books with sentence highlighting and narration but no animation). TumbleBooks are created from existing picture books which we have licensed from children's book publishers and converted to the TumbleBook format.
There are three convenient ways of accessing them:

Six Flags Reading Program
If you have not signed your class up for the Six Flags Reading Program, HOLIDAY BREAK is a great time to do it. Students can achieve their entire goal of 6 hours over the holiday break, which is a great incentive to keep them reading. Everything is done on line now, so set up an account if you have not done so. If you are unable to register as you are still registered at your previous campus, let me know. There is an e-mail that can be generated to switch you to Mills.

Jaguars! The 'Sunshine' Committee Needs You!
The Hospitality (Sunshine) committee works to spread just that....Sunshine! Birthdays, Baby Showers, Personal or family illness, the sunshine team will work to make Mills a brighter place to work each day!
Dues are $25.00 for professional staff and $20.00 for paraprofessional staff.
Ms. Malty will collect monies. Cash or Check Payable to: Roger Q. Mills.
If you become a PAYING member of sunshine committee, you will receive a JEANS PASS for every Thursday for the remainder of the Fall semester.
That's JEANS 2 days a week until Winter Break!

Its secret Santa Time!!! Please do not forget to start surprising your secret person Monday December 7, 2015. Plan to spend $20 on your final gift and all other gifts should be less than $5 a day. Let’s have a jolly good time!!
