Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Spring Term - Issue 4

Big picture

A word from Mr Broom

Aa the temperatures plunged again this week, so too did our school attendance. We seem to have an awful lot of different illnesses ranging from sickness to headaches and all manner of things. Our staff have been affected too and Mr Wooffindin and the cleaning team are working incredibly hard to deep clean all classrooms regularly.

The weather also put pay to our tag rugby tournament on Thursday. Hopefully it will be rearranged because I think we've a really good chance of winning it!

Next Tuesday is Safer Internet Day and I began the preparations for this with a special assembly on E-Safety this morning. On Tuesday, the staff will be delivering activities around the topic of keeping safe on the internet. For more information, please visit

Enjoy the weekend.

School Attendance - A Cause for Concern

It's important that children attend school regularly and at Sherburn Hungate we recognise that excellent attendance leads to excellent achievement. Fact!

Our attendance for this week is 91.4%, which is the lowest attendance we've had in the past two years!

We know that there's lots of bugs around because we've had staff illness too. However, please help us by sending your children to school when they only have sniffles. If they're not well enough to be here, we will send them home.

Our top attending class this week is Year 2 with 94.3%

Uniform Reminder - Jewellery/Make Up Not Permitted

We seem to have an increase in the number of children attending school wearing jewellery and make up. It's not permitted so please support us with this. Thank you.

Snaps from the week!

Parking at the top of the drive

Please help us to keep our children safe by refraining from parking/waiting on the yellow zigzag lines at the top of the main drive. We've had a few near misses and we'd hate for someone to get hurt through something that's very avoidable.

Message for Sherburn Voice Choir Parents

There will be no choir next Friday as I'm out of school at a meeting. Hopefully the early notice will give you chance to make arrangements.
