Weekly Updates for Nov 16 - 20
Message from the Principal
Good afternoon Jags!
It is one week away from the Thanksgiving Break and this nine weeks is moving quickly. This is week 5 of the 2nd nine weeks. When we return after the Thanksgiving break there are only 3 weeks of school left in the first semester. The 1st semester exam schedule was emailed to everyone last week, but is also included below. If you are wanting to exempt a 1st semester exam be sure you have read and follow the requirements.
If you indicated your child will continue to participate in virtual instruction, we realize circumstances can change and you may wish to change from virtual back to in-person learning for your child(ren). You will be able to do so by notifying Johnson HS that you wish to send your child back to school. The deadlines each month to notify us are as follows:
December 18
February 3
March 5
April 16
We would get your child to in-person learning within 48 hours of these dates above.
Sincerely,
Gary Comalander - Principal

Semester Exam Schedule and Exemptions Information
Please be sure and read the following attachments regarding the Fall Semester Exam schedule and Semester Exam Exemption policy and FAQ.
Due to the COVID–19 pandemic, attendance requirements for exam exemptions will be waived for the 2020 – 2021 school year only. The previous baseline course semester average of 80% has changed to an 85% because attendance is not part of the semester exam exemption criteria for the 2020 – 2021 school year. All other criteria still applies.

TMEA All-State Jazz
We are excited to announce that Alejandro (Hondo) San Miguel, 12th grade, placed first in the state for Jazz baritone saxophone. Hondo made All-State as a sophomore for classical saxophone and now earns the Jazz chair this year. It is remarkable for a student to make it to state in one genre, and he’s now done it in both, classical and jazz. We are very proud and congrats on your accomplishment!
