Lincoln Newsletter
December 21, 2017
Dear Lincoln Community,
Thanks to everyone who came out to support the PTO fundraisers last week at Chipotle and seeing Star Wars at the Pickwick. We had great turn-out and a great time (My only criticism: Where's Lando?). Please join us for our next PTO meeting on Tuesday, January 16th at 7:00 PM in the LRC to find out more about what is going on at Lincoln.
With the arrival of January comes the beginning of our transition activities for the 18-19 school year. Successfully transitioning 5th graders to 6th grade, and 8th graders to high school is one of the primary tasks of a middle school. It’s all about getting students ready for the next level. To accomplish this, 5th grade teachers from Roosevelt and Washington will be meeting with our 6th grade staff to help us develop programming for our incoming 6th graders. Our 8th grade teachers also be articulating with the staff at Maine South and other area high schools.
An important part of the transition process is our Elective Night:
Who: Students who will be enrolled at Lincoln during the 2018-2019 school year and their families
What: Lincoln's Elective Night (formerly Open House)
When: Thursday, January 18, 2018; current 5th grade families meet in the Gym from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a special presentation; 6th grade families meet in the LRC from 6:30-7:00 p.m. for a special presentation; 5th, 6th, and 7th grade families are welcome to walk through the entire building from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Why: Please visit to learn more about Lincoln's engaging and unique elective program! Visit classrooms and learning spaces to meet teachers and see materials, equipment, instruments, student work, and even some live demonstrations. Current Lincoln students will be submitting their course selection forms for the next school year by the end of the month, so this event is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the fantastic options available before ranking top choices.
I hope to see you all there. I wish everyone a restful and joyous holiday and a very Happy New Year!
Dr. Murray

Lincoln Chorus!
The Lincoln 6th Grade Chorus and Ensemble recently performed at Golf Mill Mall during the Sounds of the Season Holiday Program Series. During their performance, the students had an unexpected visitor and guest director! Additional stops on their recent tour included the ESC for District 64, Park Ridge City Hall, and Mariano’s Grocery Store. The groups are under the direction of Mrs. Tami Nardi.
