The Challenger Dispatch
August 10-14, 2015 YELLOW Week
Energized from last week!
It really does feel like we are heading in such an amazing direction this year. Already we have PBL Super B.O.Y. underway, writing scheduled and in the plans, committees working on some great ideas, and new teams pumped up with new plans for engaged and excited learners.
Thank you for being part of such a great school where we truly live our motto - Aim High!
Have a wonderful day!

C.U.R.E.
Happy 2nd Week Teachers! I know, I know week 2 already! Time flies when you’re having fun! While on this journey of fun, I hope that I’m able to provide some valuable insight and research based information on safety, technology and discipline. Did you know as a classroom teacher, when discipline problems arise there are four character traits that put to practice provide a C.U.R.E. for most classroom issues. Now you’re thinking “What’s C.U.R.E., Yeldell?” It is showing
C-ompassion
U-nderstanding
R-espect
E-valuation (open-minded)
In addition, on those days you might not be able to go out for recess I would love for you to try this link: https://www.gonoodle.com/ I did the other night and the introductory video kept me moving. I’m sure your students will like it, too.
Finally, make sure the handbook test is complete and the acknowledgment forms come back. Our first safety drill will be August 13th. Alice training will be August 12th.

Wow! What a great start to a new school year! It’s been a very busy, but productive week. As we look forward to next week, don’t forget that you’ll need to “add products” to your Pearson account. If you’re not sure how to add products, go to http://huntsvillecityschools.weebly.com and click on the Teacher Quick Start Guide. This is also an excellent resource if you’d just like to review the Pearson format and navigation of the platform. I’m looking forward to a great school year working alongside the BEST teachers in the world! Aim High! Lisa

Needed by Friday:
2. Who is your grade level lead teacher? (In most grades the lead and BLT are the same person, but if you have two let us know).
3. Add me to your parent email list and send us some greeting :-) . Be sure to hide the names.
4. Check you SPAM daily - it seems to be catching everything. My Challenger PTA Newsletter was the latest thing eaten.
