Weekly Academics

Reading Street:

•This week we focused on a new Question of the Week; “ How do people in a community cooperate?”

•Amazing words: library, fire station, post office, bakery, park and chaperone

•We recognized and named uppercase and lowercase letter: Rr, Ss, Tt, Uu, Vv and Ww

•High- frequency words: I, am, the and little

•We discussed the sequence of a story

•Classifying and categorizing (sorting objects into categories)

•Used to our “rubber bands” to help sound out CVC words

•Some of our favorite books that we read are Miss. Bindergarten goes to Kindergarten, Leaf Trouble, and Ghost in a House.


•Horizontal and Vertical lines

•Reviewed headline, midline and baseline.

•Helpful strategies when writing

enVision Math:

•Fewer, more and same as

•Compared numbers 0 to 5

•Ordered groups depending on the number

•Practiced reading and writing numbers 0 to 5

Social Studies/Science:

•Characteristics of the season, Fall

•Superhero day was so fun! We discussed ways in which we can be a hero in our community.

  • Fire Safety week was fun and we learned all about fire safety at the Fire Station!

SEL: We continue to sit as a class and place ourselves somewhere on the Mood Meter. We are beginning to discuss the word “belong” and what it means to feel a sense of belonging.
