Dear Families,
We wanted to re-share the testing letter that you received last Friday in order to ensure everyone is prepared for AZM2 testing to begin on Tuesday next week. If you haven't already taken the survey, please do so, and avoid appointments on testing days.
Desert Wind Families,
We are about to begin our end of the year testing session. All middle schoolers, grades 6-8, are required by the state to participate in the AzM2 tests in English language arts and mathematics, and 8th graders are required to take the AIMS Science exam. Per the state of Arizona, all testing must occur in person. Because of this, we have created a testing schedule for all of our distance learners and our in-person students. The following letter provides you with the testing days and times for your student(s).
Administrators, front office staff, and counselors will be available to help students find their testing location. Distance learners will pick up their testing tickets which will give them the location of their testing session. Distance learners will check in at the front courtyard to pick up their testing tickets. In-person students will enter campus as they do every morning and report to their homeroom classroom.
All testing sessions will begin at 9:30 AM. Distance learning students need to report to campus for their homeroom class which begins at 9:10 am. Classes will run on the following schedule after the testing session ends at 11:45 am.
Please make sure your student brings their school provided device and charger. If they have been using a personal device at home, a school device will be provided. Students will need headphones for all tests. They cannot be bluetooth headphones. If you have headphones of your own that can be utilized, please bring them. Students may bring a lunch to eat during the break between sessions or they may get a bagged lunch from the cafeteria.
The testing session will end at 11:45 am, but the tests are untimed. Students who require additional time will be provided the opportunity to finish the exam.
Online students will have access to regular district bus transportation. Families may alternatively choose to drop-off/pick them up at the end of the testing session. If you require transportation, you need to know the nearest bus route pick up/drop off location. Transportation will be for the full school day, as it will be the regular bus route/school day schedule, so your student will be on campus the whole day on the testing days in a learning lab situation unless you plan to pick your student up at the end of the testing session.
The following are the testing dates:
4/6, AzM2 Writing
4/8, AzM2 ELA Part 1
4/13, AzM2 ELA Part 2
4/15, AzM2 Math Part 1
4/20, AzM2 Math Part 21
4/22, AZSci Part 1 & 2 (8th grade only)
If you are a distance learning family, please take this short survey regarding testing to help us better prepare and to acknowledge receipt of this information. Thank you!
Please contact Assistant Principal Balt with any questions in regards to AzM2 and AIMS exams at abalt@musd20.org or by phone at (520) 568-7110.
Thank you,
Carlos Alvarado

WAY TO GO, TIGERS!
Tiger
- Matthew is always willing to help his classmates with their assignments. He's a great student. I really enjoy having him in my class.
- I couldn't be more proud of Jenny. She worked extremely hard to make sure her project was completed and done on time. Keep up the great work Jenny!
- Emily is responsible of her learning. She participates in class discussion and finish her assignment on time. She is respectful to all the people inside the classroom. Lastly, she is safe, she remains seated every time she is done with her task.
- John is a new student in my class. I have observed that he is very respectful, he knows how to wait for his turn, he raised hand before speaking, and he asks politely.
- Natalia is a quiet student in class, yet, she is listening in class discussion and does her assignments in silence. She remains on her seat unless she has to get up and come to me to ask permission or ask questions.
