Student Biological Society (Club) Competing in USA Biology Olympiad
On February 1, students in the SBS club will compete in the USA Biology Olympiad competition consisting of an extremely challenging 50-minute examination over many different Biology concepts. Once a week, Thomas Hilbert has been leading the group in a rigorous review session of the week's focus.
Students competing are Thomas Hilbert, Sid Bender, Javen Moore, Haley VanKampen, and Emma Pritchard. Wish the club members luck as they compete and hopefully move on to the semifinal round that will be held on April 4.
Michigan Horticulture Teachers Association Teacher of the Year!
Big cheers for Mr. Willett, our FFA Teacher at Cedar Springs High School! He's been honored as the Michigan Horticulture Teachers Association's Teacher of the Year!
Did you know, that students in Mr. Willett’s class learn in many-hands on ways:
Students run a successful greenhouse, learning by doing.
Our students become experts in food safety, providing fresh lettuce for meals served by our food department.
They master everything from growing plants to designing landscapes.
With 10 acres of land, they dive into soil and farming practices.
This year, they're even learning to operate Zero Turn Lawnmowers!
Mr. Willett's students understand how food goes from farm to table.
Give Mr. Willett a big round of applause!
8th Grade Ambassadors Lead the Way: A Glimpse into High School Life
We're thrilled to spotlight our 8th-grade student Ambassadors (Read SNN student 'jobs') who took part in our inaugural High School Shadow event earlier this week.
This special event allowed our 8th graders to connect with high school students, experience classes firsthand, explore the building, and start building relationships with high school teachers and staff. Our ambassadors will share their insights and learnings with the entire 8th grade, paving the way for a seamless transition into their freshman year. They're set to lead and support their peers through this exciting next step in their educational journey!
Thank you to all the staff at the High School for coordinating this event, and a shout out to the high school students who helped make the day incredible for our Future Class of 2028!
