EdCamp is Virtual
Each summer, we host an "unconference" PL event. The topics are created by those in attendance and there is no set presenter. The people in attendance populate the content interest and then collaborate and discuss based on their individual expertise. It is really powerful to have teachers ask questions and work with their peers to come up with solutions. There are NO TALKING HEADS in this event and it is open collaboration.
If you are interested, sign up! It is FREE! We don't have any fine arts yet and it would be cool to have some this year. Also, it is open to anyone anywhere. Share with colleagues and have a chat session/collab with anyone in your content area on the topic of your choice.
Please register for the EdCamp here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/edcamp-paulding-2020-virtual-edcamp-tickets-99263217957
May is Mental Health Month
Mental Health Challenge - Reach out to someone you know who struggles with feelings of anxiety or depression and see how they are doing. Are you having a bad day? Is the quarantine life wearing YOU out? Then that means it is also wearing out your friends who are prone to struggle with these feelings. Be a friend.
Who needs to hear from you today? Someone might just need a chat. Reach out!

2019-2020 Fine Arts Reflection Activity
I just want to take a quick moment and encourage you to do something that I encourage you to do each year.
Reflect
Some people hate it and some people love it but I think it is literally one of the most important things we do as humans, let alone as educators. Consider a few things and then take the survey when you have time. It is completely anonymous and you can include your name if you want to but that is not really the point.
Katie’s Thoughts on Reflection
Each year, I personally like to reflect and consider some things about my previous year and how I might adjust going forward. This is one of those things I think we are always doing as teachers and if we don't, we risk becoming stagnant. It is very easy as educators of the same subject year upon year to get into a plug and play mode. This is bad - we don't teach plug and play students so we should not offer them "last year's" teacher.
Humans grow. Humans adjust. Humans change. If this school year has taught me anything, it is that my response to things MUST be human. The arts celebrate all that is humanity - love, encouragement, support, beauty in small things and it is through this world of “the arts” that we present some i
Something to always remember - we can only reflect upon the things we can change. We had a worldwide pandemic - that is beyond my control or yours. I can't change that and neither can you so my word of advice upon anything related to reflection - Think of what IS in your circle of influence to control. We can't control the pandemic but how could you personally adjust your response to it (or other out of control issues) and what it did to your realm of influence?
I don’t give you this to be “one more thing” – I give you this because you need it. I needed it and you need it.
