Hello ROYALS Families!
We are offering an informal OPTIONAL Check-In for 6th graders on this upcoming Tuesday, July 26th, from 2:00p - 5:00p and on Wednesday, July 27th, from 1:00p - 6:30p for 7th and 8th graders at QUIST.
The purpose of this is to allow students the opportunity to get their picture taken that will be used for the yearbook and student IDs, obtain a paper copy of their schedule, and we will have team members from Transportation, Nutrition Services, and our Parent Advisory Committee available to answer questions/provide any support necessary. This is a great opportunity to learn more about getting involved in the QUIST community. This is not a mandatory time, of course, as many of you may be away due to summer travel. Students will have a second opportunity for pictures during school on August 24th.
August 10th is our district’s 6th grade Middle School Orientation Day 8:35a - 4:37p. On this day, our 6th grade ROYALS are expected to be in attendance here at QUIST. This day is sponsored by our Welcome Everybody “WEB” Leader group and is specifically planned to set students up for success as they enter middle school. During orientation, they will make connections with WEB leaders and become familiar with what to expect during a typical school day.
The first day of school for all other grades (7th/8th) is on August 11th.
You can click HERE to access the 22/23 School Supply Lists. Students can bring their supplies with them to school on August 11th, all community supplies will be giving to their Pathways teacher. Students will be able to utilize lockers this year to store all other items.
Our district is hosting 27J’s Back to School Kickoff at the Bob Sakata Education Campus, North 6th Avenue, Brighton, CO on Sat, Jul 30, 2022 at 9a. They will have free backpacks and school supplies for students in need. Plus, you can check all kinds of to-do's off your list at booths for online registration for new students, free and reduced meal applications, preschool registration and more!
Click here to view our 22/23 Bell Schedule. As done in previously years, the start/stop times for Quist have been modified to help alleviate traffic congestion. Students will be let into the building starting at 8:25a to allow them 10 minutes to go to their lockers and prepare for class starting at 8:35a. Students will be counted tardy starting at 8:36a and required to come sign in at the office before going to class. As we get closer to school, we will share more insight about our drop off / pick up process.
We have a few positions available for the school year including one SpEd para, custodial positions, and positions in our Nutrition department. We also continue to have a need for volunteers before/after school, during lunch/recess, and for our school activities. Our largest need is for before/after school cross walk duty.
One of our recent teacher hires is coming from Camaroon. When they arrive, they will need a place to live. At the time I am writing this, I am not sure when the teacher will arrive. However, if you or someone you know has a room for rent, please let me know at tnorrisbuck@sd27j.net.
We are excited for this school year to start and to welcome your students to Quist. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/QuistROYALS
We hope you continue to have a great summer!

Free & Reduced Meal Applications / Meal Cost Increases
USDA waivers allowed 27J to feed students for free during the COVID pandemic. However, those waivers expired. As a result, school meals will no longer be free for all students.
Applications for free and reduced priced lunches are available now. (click HERE) Prices are based on the most current information we have for your student, so be sure to update us on any changes!
To help offset significantly higher food wholesale prices, 27J school meals will see a modest cost
increase for the 2022-23 school year. 27J meal prices remain lower than the average of seven other metro-area school districts.
Bus Fee Changes & Announcements
We want to make you aware of some important changes to bus transportation in 27J for the 2022-2023 school year:
The transportation registration deadline is now closed.
If your student is new to 27J, you can still register by calling the 27J Transportation Office at 303-655-2991.
Monthly ridership fees have changed.
Fees are now $40 per student per month, with an $80 monthly household cap.
Fees are added to your student fee payment account with a first payment due in October.
If you don’t want your previously registered student to ride the bus this year, it’s important to go into the FamilyID system and discontinue/unselect your ridership designation. This step will make sure you are not charged a fee for transportation your student isn’t using.
Rider routes will be posted on the district website on August 1.
Improvements to walk routes to Quist now make some bus service no longer needed. These changes will begin in August 2022.
As a reminder, the walk-to distance is 1.5 miles for any 27J middle school, and 2 miles for any 27J high school.
