COVID-19 Update for Boone

Since returning from Thanksgiving vacation we have had notification of six positive COVID cases at Boone. As the number of cases in Chicago and Illinois also continue to rise, we encourage you to please take advantage of the many vaccination sites available across the city at vaccines.gov, chi.gov/covidvax,a CPS regional COVID-19 vaccine clinic, mobile event or school-based health center. The COVID-19 vaccines are now available to all students age 5 and older. Once students are fully vaccinated, as long as they are not showing any COVID symptoms they will not need to quarantine if they are found to be a close contact of a person who has tested positive.

If your student has already been vaccinated, please bring the card into the office or email a picture along with your child's full name and homeroom to Nurse Vickie Cockrell at vcockrell@cps.edu. Thank you!

Muchas gracias!

Winter Weather & Outdoor Recess

The CPS Wellness policy states that students can be outside for recess if the temperature (with wind chill factor) is 15 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. Please be sure to send students with appropriate winter gear for the cold, and feel free to reach out to the Main Office if you are in need of assistance with getting winter gear for your students. There is a great benefit to students being able to get outside and move around and exercise, and so we want to have students outside as much as possible. However, if the temperature or wind chill is below 15 degrees, students will be allowed to enter the building in the morning beginning at 8:05AM, and will remain indoors for recess.

Parent Portal

Parent Portal gives parents the ability to view students' grades in real time. If you are setting up your Parent Portal account for the first time, please visit the First Time Parent Portal Set-Up link. This is a one-time step and not necessary after every school year. Once you receive your email from Aspen to help set up your username and password, you can access Parent Portal at Aspen Parent Portal.

If you already have a Parent Portal account, but are running into technical issues (forgot password, locked out, etc), please email Boone's tech coordinator Patrick Chi (ptchi@cps.edu) so he can reset your account. Once your account is reset, you should receive an email from Aspen with further instructions. Additional information provided by the district can be found at this link.
