Firebird Flash

Proud to Be Your Principal
Good afternoon Firebird families! Hope you've had a great last week of September. My favorite season is fall. I love the start of football season (Go Pack GO & Go Badgers) and the cool weather.
We continue to move forward with the goal of being the best school in the State of Wisconsin. We are seeing the positive results of many of our building initiatives. We are much more safe and efficient with our bus ramp and parent pickup / dropoff. Our schedule planning has our middle school with more electives than ever, offering our students with diverse opportunities not found elsewhere. We have reduced class sizes for our entire building to be able to help every student reach their fullest potential. Our STEAM focus provides opportunity for all of our students to be immersed in cutting edge materials. We offer everyday physical education for our k-5 students to help them be healthy and fit for their lifetime. Our advanced ELA and Math classes in grades 4-8 challenge our upper level students to promote growth.
Please take a moment to read below and see what's coming up at our schools this fall. Have a great weekend!
Proud to be your principal
I love Minocqua and our school

New Teacher Spotlight!
Hey all, I'm Ms. Carley Siegel. This is my first year as a teacher, but I am beyond excited to start it here at MHLT! I grew up in Lake Mills, WI, near Madison, and graduated college from Winona State University. I was very excited knowing that this position opened up. I said I'd be the first to apply - and I was! It's been almost a month since I first started teaching, and I couldn't have asked it to turn out any better than it has. The students are amazing, helpful, and enthusiastic about being healthy and active. I look forward to the rest of the year to get my students more. It's a great day to be a Firebird!

"Parents As Teachers"
Here at MJ1, we have a commitment to helping our community develop the children attending our school district into growing active citizens. Our school staff recognizes that to accomplish this we must educate young scholars to problem solve and take responsibility, just as parents and families do at home. We strive to promote the home school connection to aide in the growth of the whole child. The article linked below explains how the struggle with teaching our children life skills is well worth the effort and provides us with food for thought.
