INTRO
The next few paragraphs will tell you all you need to know about the water cycle and precipitation. Have fun learning and reading!
The Water Cycle
The water cycle is the never ending cycle of water leaving earth and coming back to it. The three parts of the water cycle are Precipitation, Evaporation, and Condensation.
Precipitation
Precipitation is when a cloud gets to full of water vapor, and it lets go of it as a form of precipitation. the 4 kinds of precipitation are: Rain, Snow, Sleet, and Hail.
What is a cloud?
Clouds are puffy balls of evaporated water. Water evaporates to become water vapor, and it rises to become a cloud. There are 4 types of cloud. They are: Cirrus, Cumulonimbus, Cumulus, and Stratus.
Precipitation Types
Rain:Little balls of water falling to earth (temp. has to be under 32°).
Sleet:frozen rain
Snow: Rain falling to earth as balls of ice crystals.
Hail:Rain freezing and falling to earth as balls of ice.
What does the cloud mean?
The cloud types have different meanings of weather.
- Cirrus clouds are wispy and see through. They might indicate an approaching storm.
- Cumulonimbus clouds are large and mushroom like. They indicate rain or thunder storms.
- Cumulus clouds are puffy like cotton balls. They indicate good weather.
- Stratus clouds are like gray layers, and may mean rain or snow.
