What's Going On In The World Of Walton's Spanish Classes
Día de los Muertos
Día de los Muertos is on November 2nd. As a project students are researching, presenting, and creating a traditional dish associated with Día de los Muertos. We will be using our Culinary Arts facilities to cook the dish. The groups will have to be super organized and prepared as they will create their dish as a group during class. All materials need to be prepared beforehand so that during class up to 25-30 minutes will be used to prepare (cook, bake, etc.) the dish. During this time each student should also be prepared to discuss in detail in Spanish their dish to someone in the class.

Library Game Day
Monthly the Spanish classes within the World Language department have a cross-sectional, cross-level, and cross-program Library Game Day. The purpose of this Game Day is to build fluency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in the Target Language (Spanish). Having this cross-sectional time allows students to interact not only in a more comfortable environment but with students of various ability as well.

Language Lab Fee
The first semester has come and gone and I am so blessed to be learning and growing along with your students.
The World Languages Department collects a lab fee of $ 10.00 to keep our equipment and software up to date. Many of you have already paid this summer through the PTSO prep-day website. If you have not, you may send cash, or a check made out to Alamo Heights ISD with your child as soon as possible. I will take the cash/check in class as well as distribute a receipt.
I will send an email to those parents who still owe a language lab fee balance but don’t hesitate to email me for whatever concerns you may have.
Movie Night
On Tuesday, October 30th the World Language Department will host a movie night after school starting at 6pm. The French and Spanish students will be able to go to their perspective teachers rooms and watch a movie. The Spanish students will be able to come to room 152S and enjoy Coco (trailer below). Bring snacks to share!!!
