The Sinking of the Lusitania
By Liam
What happened?
The Lusitania sank on May 7th, 1915, during the WW1. The Lusitania was sunk by a German sub called a U-Boat 20. The U-Boat 20 fired two torpedoes at the bottom of the boat so then it began to sink. It sank in just 15 minutes.
How much did it cost and weigh?
The Lusitania would have cost about 2,600,000 million dollars that might not be a lot now but back then but that was like 100 million now. The boat would've weighed 44,060 tons. The Lusitania was the very first boat to weigh over 30,000 tons.
The sinking of the Lusitania
The sinking of Lusitania was terrible. Some interesting facts about the Lusitania is that about 1,260 people died when it sank. There were about 761 people survived the sinking only to die shortly after because of starvation, weather and the cold Atlantic ocean while they waited to be rescued.
