Principal's Points
Hi North Families!
We hope that the new year has started off well for all of you. We are busy with learning and activities every day here at North.
Our focus remains to cultivate a positive climate and create the best learning environment possible. We do this by practicing SHINE on a daily basis. High-quality instruction and student learning are our highest priorities. Everything that we do at North is designed to help students learn in all areas and be successful well beyond their time in elementary school. Once again, that partnership between school and home is a key ingredient for student success. With that said, we hope that your students are feeling safe and supported. This is an interesting time in their lives and development and can be challenging at times. If you have questions and or concerns, we want to hear from you.
It is hard to believe that we have passed the halfway point of the year. Students are settled in routines and understand our school- wide SHINE expectations. Teachers have worked hard to create meaningful learning opportunities and teach school-wide behavior expectations. Consistency and predictability are key factors for student success, as well as a calm learning environment to better focus on learning.
A reminder to our car rider students, our drop off times are 7:30-7:45. Please try to go through the car rider line at that time. Although we are outside after that it can be difficult to monitor second round buses and make sure our late arrivals are able to proceed safely into the building.
We’re fortunate to work with your students every day. Thank you for allowing us to play a role in their development

Mr. Lugo's Brainbuster
Brynley Patterson in Mrs. Seller's class knew that Star is the name of our mascot! She won a pizza party for her entire class! Congratulations Brynley!
Lugo's Brainbuster:
The more you take, the more you leave behind? What are they?
Write your answer on a piece of paper and put it in the jar in the office. If your name is drawn and you have the right answer, you will win a prize from Mr. Lugo.

Hamilton East Public Library (HEPL)
HEPL would love for you to come visit with your child and check out books. Did you know that your child’s student ID allows them to have digital access to books through HEPL . If you want them to check out print books, all you have to do is go to the library and let them know that you want a library card and that your child attends Noblesville Schools. They will help you from there. Here is a short video to watch to learn about what the library has to offer and how to check out or put items on hold. HEPL has COVID safety protocols in place.Upcoming Events and Announcements

News from the Nurse
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month! Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. As kids grow, plan on routine dental checkups anywhere from once every 3 months to once a year, depending on the dentist’s recommendations. Limiting intake of sugary foods and drinks along with brushing and flossing all contribute to a child’s dental health. Your partnership with the dentist will help ensure healthy teeth and a beautiful smile! J
High Ability Identification Process
Noblesville Schools relies on NWEA scores to identify students who achieve at exceptional levels for High Ability (FOCUS) instruction. To identify students with the potential for high achievement that is not reflected in NWEA scores, all students in kindergarten and second grade who are not already identified as High Ability in both math and English language arts will take an online screener called the Cognitive Abilities Test, or CogAT. Students who meet the benchmark on the screener will later take the remaining portions of the CogAT. All fifth graders who are not already identified as High Ability in both math and English language arts and who met the benchmark will take the full CogAT without first taking the screener. Parents of online learners will receive a separate letter with detailed information regarding testing plans to accomodate these students. If you have any questions about high ability testing and instruction, go to Noblesville Schools and click on Academics and then on High Ability. Questions may be directed to Robert Lugo at robert_lugo@nobl.k12.in.us.

We are encouraging staff and families to stay home during spring break to minimize the spread of COVID.
If you are planning to travel internationally, please be aware that you are required to notify your school nurse of any international travel to a COVID “Level 4” area and will need to quarantine upon your return.
Please note that there is a possibility that domestic travel could be impacted if Governor Holcomb were to mandate that at some point.
