Whiteley Wildcat Update
December 13, 2019
We had a great week here at Whiteley! We started the week off by having different staff members read holiday and winter books, and we have been posting the videos on the school Facebook page for our families to enjoy. Our first grade students impressed us with their musical talents at their winter program. Many classrooms enjoyed the opportunity to do some coding, and it may have opened up some new ideas for future careers. Third grade students enjoyed the arrival of the crayfish and were very eager to try to get me to hold one. As you can see the week has been busy, filled with learning and fun!
5 Essentials Survey
Last month we sent out a letter to our families in regards to our 5 Essentials survey. This survey allows us to collaborate with our families and provides an opportunity for parents to provide feedback. This survey is extremely important as it becomes part of our school report card that is issued by the state. Please take a moment to take the 5 Essentials survey. You can access the survey at https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/. Thank you for taking time to complete the survey.
PTA
PTA
Our PTA is providing a staff breakfast on December 20th. They are looking for volunteers to help with items and to help in different areas. If you are willing to help please sign-up here.
PBIS highlight – Celebration Time
This week students participated in our first Celebration for the 2019-2020 school year. When 88% of the Whiteley students stay minor free, the student body earns a school-wide celebration. The winter celebration was a team STEM challenge. Primary students used blocks, plastic cups and popsicle sticks to build the highest tower possible. Intermediate students created catapults in small teams within their classrooms. As you can see from the pictures, the students enjoyed this activity and they know how to celebrate expected behavior! Way to go Whiteley Wildcats!
