Food Allergy Awareness
There are a number of students enrolled at Furnace Brook Middle School who are severely allergic to peanuts/nuts/almonds and other food products. If exposed to peanut and/or tree nuts the student may develop a life-threatening allergic reaction that requires emergency medical treatment. The greatest potential for exposure at school are peanut and or nut products. Strict avoidance of these products is the only way to prevent an allergic reaction. Some allergies can be life threatening. To reduce the risk of exposure, certain classrooms are peanut and tree nut aware. Please do not send any peanut/nut/almond containing products for your child to eat during snack in the classroom (for example no Nutella or snacks that contain nut products). Any exposure to food allergens through contact or ingestion can cause a severe reaction.
As always, Furnace Brook Middle School Staff, provides a safe and secure environment for your student(s). Thank you for your consideration regarding this important matter, and if you have any questions or concerns please call the school nurse.

A CLOSE ONE..6 GR. VS 8 GR. ATTENDANCE
Who took the win for attendance this week!
Getting to school on time is another habit to build. When parents say it is okay to be late to their children, they're not helping to develop good habits for success. Please help us by getting your child to school by 7:40AM. Be sure technology is shut down before bed time, and help to create a structured night and morning routine that your child can own and implement.
Starting the day late also increases anxiety. Arriving timely anywhere demonstrates responsibility and is a great habit to build now.
We can't do it without you. Let's build good habits that last a lifetime!
