Virtual Board of Education Meeting April 8
Since Illinois is currently under a Stay-at-Home Order enacted by the Governor due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a recent provision (2020–07: COVID-19 Executive Order No. 5, Section 6) allows a change to the Open Meetings Act where “in-person attendance by a public body” is suspended. As a result, the District 15 leadership has worked with the Board President to hold the Wednesday, April 8 meeting virtually. Out of an abundance of caution, no members of the D15 Board or Office of the Superintendent will be gather in the Board room for the meeting. Instead, Board and Administrative participants will participate through video conferencing software.
A video live stream of the open session beginning at 7 p.m. will be available to watch on our District 15 Facebook page and website, so residents can view the meeting live online per our usual practice. If you'd like to address the Board through public comment, please complete the Google Form prior to the meeting being called to order.
Any submissions we receive will be read aloud at the start of the meeting as long as they comply with Board Policy 2:230 - Public Participation at Board of Education Meetings and Petitions to the Board. Submissions will also be posted in BoardDocs and on the District’s website so that members of the general public are able to view them after the meeting concludes.

We appreciate the public's patience and understanding as we work together to safeguard the health of our community and continue to run Community Consolidated School District 15.
District Meal Delivery Continues Through Duration of School Closure
We know that many of our students are dependent on school meals for nourishment, and in the interest of ensuring this need continues to be met while District 15 schools are closed due to COVID-19, we have established a schedule for food distribution in the community during the duration of the school closure.
District 15 will deliver food to specific locations weekdays through the duration of the closure. Food will not be delivered on Friday, April 10, as the District Office is closed on that date.
Lunch and breakfast for the following day will be distributed together during scheduled delivery times. Meals will be provided to any child (age 18 and under) regardless of financial need. Children do not need to be present for a parent to collect meals for them.

D15 Teacher, Volunteer Win Statewide PTA Awards
Congratulations to Walter R. Sundling Junior High Teacher Beth Blazejak and PTA volunteer Jenni Bennett for winning prestigious awards from the Illinois PTA!
Mrs. Blazejak was honored with the Illinois PTA Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award, and Mrs. Bennett won the Illinois PTA Volunteer of the Year Award!
Since the awards could not be presented in person this year, teammates surprised both women at home with balloons and flowers on their doorsteps. Congratulations to Mrs. Blazejak and Mrs. Bennett!
Facebook Live Lessons
To better provide educational connections with our students and their parents, D15 teachers across special areas (social emotional learning, art, music, P.E. and library media) are providing a series of live lessons, streamed directly to our Facebook page!
The series kicks off this week, with lessons provided on Monday and Wednesday at 11 a.m. For the remainder of the closure, a lesson will be provided every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11 a.m. After the live event concludes, videos will be downloaded and posted to the District 15 website. We hope to see you online!
