4K & 5K Kindergarten Registration Has Begun!
This year, Kindergarten registration for 4K and 5K will be in two steps:
Step 1: Online portion of registration opened on January 14, 2016.
Step 2: Completion of the registration process with form verification will be on February 9, 2016 anytime between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM at each elementary school.
In an effort to answer parents' questions around the new 4k program, we scheduled an informational session for parents at the Cedarburg Public Library on the 14th. The sessions were well attended and very successful! In speaking with parents following each session, the response was both positive and valuable!
To help us spread the word for the upcoming registration, we mailed the above postcard to all Cedarburg families the first week of January. In addition, a banner advertising registration was created, signs were placed in neighborhood yards, and new sandwich board signs situated at each of our elementary schools.

Student Services Planning and Program Development
Student Services transition planning and program development has already begun for the 16-17 school year. As an example, teams at WTS are looking at student needs and how to support students in the new block schedule and how to provide a successful transition into the building. Ted has been working with the teams through a planning process called SWOP… this process has the team think about the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities in the program and how they serve students, and then develop an action plan for how the team will restructure its program and services to meet its current student population needs.
Problem Solving Meeting Protocols & Universal Screening Assessments
NEW RtI Documents!
1. Problem Solving Meeting Protocols
2. Universal Screening Assessment Timeline
Problem Solving Meeting Protocols: As we near the end of the second quarter, schools will soon be reviewing their next round of universal screening data (MAP). Universal Screening Meetings will occur during the week of February 8-February 12th, where teams will be discussing the progress of Tier 2 and 3 intervention/acceleration students.
Universal Screening Assessment Timeline: This document displays the annual cycle of meetings to be held in the fall, mid-year and end-of-year. Recognizing that the district has developed and implemented this new timeline mid-stream, schools are at slightly different stages of the process, with the ultimate goal of being aligned by the end of February.
Everyone's efforts to ensure the ongoing growth of all of our students, is more than appreciated!

Blogging!
In honor of our newly purchased subscription to Kidblog for K-8 teachers, the January Digital Teacher's Challenge theme is Blogging!
All resources are posted and ready for you to explore on the Digital Teacher Challenge page. New for K-8 is Kidblog where you can create great blogs for your students and yourself encouraging communication, collaboration and literacy in a great learning experience. 9-12 teachers can do all these things and add in a global perspective with Blogger as their tool.
Blogging is a very powerful way to encourage literacy skills in all curricular areas while engaging kids in collaborative and communicative writing. If you have never before blogged, there are resources available on the site for you and for those who have blogged already. I hope you will be inspired to try some fresh new ideas with which to spruce up the current blogs.
Hope to see some great blogs!
