Definition
Tourette syndrome affects the bodies brain and nervous system by ticks repeated uncontrollable movements or involuntary vocal sounds. For example some one with TS syndrome might blink their eyes or clear their throat over and over again unintentionally.

*shouting unexpectedly and uncontrollably
*head jerking
*eye blinking
*sticking tongue out
*mouth twitching
*Repeating what someone else says over and over again

Diagnoses and Treatment
Although there is no cure for TS there is just treatment to control tics that interfere with everyday life, sometimes treatment isn't necessary if tics aren't severe. No medication is helpful to anyone with TS and possible medication might just reduce symptoms of related conditions.

Causes
Although the cause of TS is unknown, here are some possibilities...
*Genetics: Tourette syndrome may be from genes that run down in your family.
*Brain Abnormalities: Certain chemicals in the brain that transmit nerve impulses may play a role.
*Sometimes the conditions people with TS have are common among each other, such as ADHD or OCD.
