Attendance Matters

We teach from bell to bell. This is not the kindergarten you attended. The academic demands on our children are far greater than you may realize. Bringing your student late or picking them up early will cause gaps in the learning on which they build. We start phonics instruction 1st thing in the morning and end out day with math instruction.

1. School starts at 8am sharp. If your child needs breakfast, they should be here in time to eat and make it to their seat by 8:00. Anything later, students are counted tardy. Children arriving after 10:00 are counted absent.

2. Any time your child is unable to attend school their return needs to be accompanied by a note from a parent or doctor.

3. If your child is out with illness please contact your child’s teacher as soon as school starts.

We Teach to the Bell

At Curtis, we teach to the bell. I know sometimes we may be out a tad early so the kindergarteners don't get trampled by the big kids, but we try to squeeze every minute of instructional time out of our day as possible. For that reason, please avoid checking your child out of school between 3:00 and 3:15.
