What is a Mammogram and What Do the Exams Screen for?
A mammogram is an x-ray screening of the breast which is used to detect signs of cancer in people who have or do not have symptoms. Screening Mammograms make it possible to spot tumors in the breast that cannot be physically seen or felt.
How Often Should These Tests Be Done?
A mammogram or breast exam should be done once every two years between the ages of 50 and 75.
Who Should Be Tested?
Women are highly recommended to get regular breast exams every two years, although both men and woman can get exams if there is any changes in the breasts.
Pap Smears
What are Pap Smears and What Do They Screen For?
A Pap smear is a medical test that helps doctors figure out if there are any problems with a girl's cervix. Pap smears can identify infections and other problems, including abnormal cells that may develop into cancer if they are not treated.
What Age Should You Start Screening?
Women should start getting Pap smears within the first three years os staring sexual activity and or when a woman turns 21. You should get these tests every three years.
Who Should Be Tested?
Teens and girls under 18 should not get a pap smear unless there is something wrong. Although it is advised for women to get them every three years.
Testicular Exams
What Are Testicular Exams and What Do the Exams Screen For?
Testicular Exams are done to check for any signs of lumps, change in size or tenderness which can be the first three signs of testicular cancer.
How Often Should These Tests Be Done?
Tests by a doctor should be done once a year. Doctors can show how to do self-examinations in order to see if there is any change in size.
Who Should Be Tested?
Although it is uncommon in teenage years, testicular cancer can be found within the ages of 15 and 35. It is recommended for men to be tested and to monitor any changes.

Prostate exams scan for cancer and can help identify cancer early on, when treatment is most effective.
What Age Should You Start Screening?
It is recommended that men between ages 40 to 70 should get tested every year. The chance of getting prostate cancer is increased between the ages 40 to 70, although prostate exams are not necessary after the age of 70.
