Welcome Back!

We are off to a great start at Pleasant Hill this year! It has been such a joy to see all of the smiling faces each and every day. Even with the hiccups in our student information system, things have been running smoothly at PHE. Thank you to the front office staff for all of their hard work and dedication; they are a HUGE reason for our great beginning of the year.


Based on feedback you provided in the parent/student surveys this spring, we will be providing this monthly memo as an attempt to keep our community up-to-date on how things are going at PHE and keep you informed on important dates and events.


I would like to take this opportunity to share a few things about myself and family. This is my fourth year as the proud principal of Pleasant Hill Elementary. I actually opened PHE as a kindergarten teacher 16 years ago. This is my 20th year in education and in Leander ISD. I have taught at the following schools:

Whitestone Elementary (Kindergarten)

Pleasant Hill Elementary (Kindergarten)

Leander High School (Ready, Set, Teach!, Cheer, ACE/Health)

Rouse High School (Assistant Principal)

River Place Elementary (Assistant Principal)


I have four children, Emma (10th grade), Reagan (6th grade), Carter (5th grade), and Reece (Kindergarten). I am excited and proud to have two of my children on our campus this year (see pictures below). My husband is an assistant principal at Leander High School and has been there for nine years. We are proud to be part of the Leander Way! I am very connected to this community and care very much about our students and families. I will continue to work hard for you all and for what is best for our students. Communication at PHE

We work each year to improve on our systems and procedures to communicate with our families. We have so many ways to connect with you and want to share the most up-to-date information as soon as possible. Below are ways that we will continue to communicate daily/weekly/monthly:

Please note that the phone numbers/emails on file with us will be used when necessary to communicate. Please update in the front office as needed.

Join us after the Husky Huddle from 8:15-9:00 AM on Friday, September 20th in the cafeteria for a talk-time on different topics that are important to our campus. We will host one of these most months to provide a time for our parents and community members to offer feedback and ask questions. We will provide coffee and donuts. No need to let us know you are coming...just show up! If you have questions or want to suggest a topic, please contact Mrs. Robbins at heather.robbins@leanderisd.org or Mrs. Fields at marcia.fields@leanderisd.org.

What are "O" days?

A and B rotation schedules are listed on our monthly calendar. These will let you know what days your student will go to PE, Art, Performing Arts, or Library. Ask your teacher for details of your class' rotation schedule. O days happen when we need all of our grade level students to get together rather than divide into four different areas. September's O days are to allow all of our students to preview the book fair on September 6th and also to provide information about the annual PTA Walk-a-Thon on September 27th. You can find all of these dates and more on our monthly blue calendars that go home in Wednesday folders.

Healthy Husky Morning Workouts

A note from Coach Tweed and Coach Simmons...

Morning workouts are starting next week! Workouts will be held every Monday and Wednesday starting September 4th. We will be playing the Wii and other games around the gym. We will be open from 7:20-7:40 AM on these days and are open to all grades. Just a couple of reminders:

  • Make sure you eat breakfast before you come in the gym. There will not be time after morning workout to eat in the cafeteria.
  • Backpacks will be placed on the wall of the gym or can be dropped off in their classroom.

Would you like to be more involved in your child's school? You could be part of this year's Site-Based Planning Committee, which is a group that meets with Mrs. Robbins and other leadership team members, a few times a year to talk about and plan for Pleasant Hill. Topics can range from state accountability requirements to classroom instruction. We are looking for not only parents, but community members and local business owners. Space is limited, so please respond as soon as possible.

SAVE the DATE! Annual Watch DOGS and Super MOMS Kick Off!

September 26th at 5:30 PM in the PHE Cafeteria- Please join us for a quick PTA general session meeting and a free dinner to all paid PTA members; at 6:00 PM there will be an informative presentation about our Watch DOGS and Super MOMS programs. Learn about how you can get involved and support our campus and students! Did you know that the PTA is the oldest and largest child advocacy associations in the United States? Our goal is to have at least one PTA member for each and every child enrolled at PHE, so every child has a voice. For less than three cents a day, you can be that voice! Did you know???

All PHE/Leander ISD school buses are now equipped with A/C and seat belts. For safety reasons, ALL PHE students are REQUIRED to wear seat belts on the school bus. Refusal to do so could result in disciplinary actions. Be safe on the bus...wear your seat belt, do not stand up, and do not move while the bus is in motion!

Sensory Times and Room

If needed, PHE has a sensory time and room at all PHE events. If your child would like to attend events early (30 minutes prior to the posted start time) for transition purposes or if you would like to have access to our sensory room (room 1209) during PHE events, please contact Mrs. Robbins at heather.robbins@leanderisd.org or Hallie Raesz (special education team leader) at hallie.raesz@leanderisd.org at least 1-2 days before the posted event. An instructional assistant may be available as well. Please let us know what your student needs!

Labor Day- Monday, September 2nd- NO SCHOOL

Early Release Day- Wednesday, September 25th; students will be released at 11:45 AM

Please go to the Leander ISD CNS My Mealtime site to add money to your child's breakfast/lunch account. Online is the only way to use a credit/debit card. You can make payments with check or cash before school from 7:20-8:00 AM or during your child's lunch.
