Georgia, a new promise land. Littered with sprouting new businesses, Georgia's population is starting to skyrocket. Everyone wants a little piece of the pot. Of the new businesses coca-cola and Ga pacific are like gold.
The Coca In Cola
Coca-Cola was started on January 29, 1892. The creator of Coca-Cola is Dr. John Pemberton. During the first few days of his new business john only sold about nine bottles a day. Pemberton invented a “health” drink made from the coca leaf and kola nut, which he sold mixed with bubbly water. His partner Frank M. Robinson called it “Coca-Cola.” In 1914, the Coca-Cola Bottlers Association was founded by the Coca-Cola Company. In 1919, a group of entrepreneurs in Atlanta led by Ernest Woodruff bought the company and eventually took the brand worldwide.
Basketball a new beginning
Dr. James Naismith was born in 1861 in Ramsay township, near Almonte, Ontario, Canada. The concept of basketball was created from a school house game he used to play called Duck-On-A-Rock. He then moved on to YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA in 1891, where the sport of basketball was born. The first game was played with a soccer ball and two peach baskets used as goals. James Naismith devised a set of thirteen rules of basketball. And the game of basketball was created
Welcome Governor
John Slaton was born in 1866. Slaton was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives from Fulton County in 1896 and served until 1909. In 1909 he was elected to the state senate from the Thirty-fifth District, which ended in 1913. Serving as president of the senate, Slaton was appointed acting governor after Governor Hoke Smith was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1911. Slaton served in that capacity from 1911 to 1912, when Joseph M. Brown won a term as governor. Subsequently, Slaton was elected to the governorship in his own right and served from 1913 to 1915.
