Better Days Ahead

Although we cannot be together to put on yet another amazing holiday show, we can reminisce on all the hard work involved in making last year's show and holiday festivities successful! Below, are highlights from last year's performance and staff holiday activities. My wish this holiday season is for everyone to stay safe and healthy, so we can safely put on a fabulous performance in 2021. Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!

A Special Holiday Treat

The New York Black Arts Festival

The New York Black Arts Festival presents THE LION KING JR. A lively stage adaptation of the Academy Award-Winning 1994 Disney film, The Lion King is the story of a young lion prince living in the flourishing African pride lands. Born into the royal family, precocious cub Simba spends his days exploring the sprawling savanna grasslands and idolizing his kingly father, Mufasa, while youthfully shirking the responsibility his position in life requires. When an unthinkable tragedy, orchestrated by Simba's wicked uncle, Scar, takes his father's life, Simba flees the pride lands, leaving his loss and the life he knew behind. Eventually companioned by two hilarious and unlikely friends, Simba starts anew. But when weight of responsibility and a desperate plea from the now ravaged pride lands come to find the adult prince, Simba must take on a formidable enemy, and fulfill his destiny to be king. The Lion King JR. is a 90-minute, family-friendly musical featuring classic songs from the 1994 film such as “Hakuna Matata” and the Academy Award®-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” "Circle of Life" as well as additional songs penned for the original Broadway production. Be sure not to miss this excellent production with a first rate cast! Come Join Pride Rock Live on Stage with us!

Mr. Barbariantz: Challenge #40

Make up a short story about what happens in our school during the upcoming break. Email it in and you'll get 10 points!!!!

It was one cold dark night, and everyone went home for Christmas break. The school was empty of people, but full of critters. Mice and roaches roamed the halls of Icahn Charter School. The head mouse held a meeting in the library, talking about what classroom has the best food to take. Will it be Ms. Laricchia’s room and her famous cheesecake? Or will it be Ms. Luongo and her red “juice”? Or Mr. Green’s because he stashes all the food in his extra Tupperware containers. One mouse took the cake. One mouse took the juice. One mouse took the rest of the food. They ate, they drank and had a great night.

Make up a short story about what happens in our school during the upcoming break. Email it in and you'll get 10 points!!!!

Once upon a time during Christmas break at Icahn Charter School 4, the days are silent but nights are when the party starts. Six brown mice decided that this year they are going to have the grandest nights ever. They plan to gather all the food possible, find all the warmest most cuddliest scarves they can sleep in, but most of all, they can squeak as loud as they want because guess what... all the humans are gone. The End.
