What is Holi?
- Holi is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated by non-Hindu communities around the world
- Holi also known as the "Festival of Colors" celebrates the end of the dark and cold winter and the arrival of bright and warm spring; good over evil
- A vibrant celebration in India that includes dancing, singing and playing by throwing brightly colored powder and scented water at each other
- Holi is considered a society "leveler" as it "levels" traditional roles and status' of people. When everyone is covered in colored powder it is difficult to see normal clues of class and caste (wealth and poverty)
