Teaching at Southern
April 2020, The Center for Teaching Excellence
Message from the CTE Director
During this trying time, the staff at the CTE has worked tirelessly to design resources to help you serve your students in the best way possible. In this newsletter, we highlight some of the many resources that were designed for you to promote student success as we transition to remote instruction. Our Rapid Guide for Teaching Online web page should be your first stop for resources related to teaching online. If you have not already discovered our Getting Started with Folio for Faculty - Folio Course, you can access it by clicking the link and entering your Folio login information. This course serves as a repository of tutorials and helpful information for effective online instruction. We update it regularly, so check back frequently. Note that we are offering a series of virtual workshops to support you through this sudden transition. Our workshops range from tool trainings to best online teaching practices. In collaboration with the Counseling Center, we're excited to host a series of workshops to help you manage your own and to support your students' mental health during this crisis. Don’t see what you need, submit a request for assistance.
Our wish for you is that you, and those close to you, stay healthy and happy!
Debbie Walker, Interim Director

Newly Added Workshops
The CTE has added the following workshops to better meet teaching and learning needs at this moment. Some of our workshops are pedagogy focused while others are tool trainings. Thanks to the Counseling Center, we're also offering workshops to support you and your students from a mental health perspective.
All CTE workshops and events are now being conducted remotely. To receive the link to the workshop you want to attend, you must register for the workshop in GSMU.
