## PreK

This is our final week of the "giants" theme. We will have fun reading about some make-believe giants. We are reviewing the letters, numbers, and shapes we have presented so far. Please continue practicing these at home. -Mrs. Vasquez

This week we are learning about the letter I, the number 9, numerical order (first, second, last), and the environment.-Ms. Ingroum

This week is a review week. We will go over letters A-J, numbers 0-9, the color white, and all basic shapes. Let’s have a GREAT week. Ms. Bateman

## Kindergarten

Kinder Kiddos are doing great! We have a few reminders. Label everything you can: jackets, backpacks, supplies, and water bottles. Send the students with filled water bottles every day, the water fountains are not operational because of Covid. We are working on numbers 15-20 this week. Please practice counting and sight words whenever possible. Students should know all letters and sounds. Please continue to practice them daily! Students may go back into old folders on schoology to review. Remember technology time (IRead, Raz Kids, and Dreambox) Have a great week! Thank you for all of your help at home!

Kindergarten Team

1st grade will be learning how to read, spell, and write words that have s blends like split and step. We will be studying soil in science and learning about maps in social studies. We will work on subtraction for one more week in math before taking our test!-First Grade Team

We are starting a new unit over algebraic reasoning this week. We will be learning about even and odd numbers, 10 more and 10 less of a given number, and 100 more and 100 less of a given number. -Ms. Lester

2C/2A ELA- We are working on long E patterns ee and ea, focusing on the author's purpose/story structure of the story "If the Shoe Fits," and identifying compound, simple, and combining sentences. We will also be able to identify describing words for actions. ON FRIDAY, WE TAKE CBA 4 AND STORY QUIZ! Remember these quizzes/tests are a big part of your overall grade!!! Don't be absent Friday! -Ms. B.Martinez

This week we will be working on spelling words with the long ai, ay sounds. We will be reviewing story structure, including the beginning, middle, and end. We will also be going over elements of plays/dramas. Please encourage students to read each day for at least 20 minutes! -Ms. Brown

In mathematics we are continuing to practice division strategies. I highly encourage students to practice their math facts at home! Please reach out to Ms. Curtis if you need help finding resources.-Ms. Curtis

This week we will be working on digital text in the form of a video. We will be learning the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives that describe nouns. Please encourage students to continue to read at least 20 minutes each day! -Ms. Brown

Ms. Driver's Language Arts classes will be reading "Perseus and the Fall of Medusa" this week. We will also begin writing a personal narrative. We will have a CBA on Wednesday, and a spelling test on Friday.-Mrs. Driver

Hello! We are reading about exploring the Wild West in our HMH books this week. We are identifying the central idea in the text and locating all supporting details that are important to the story. Please make sure your student is completing all missing work, keeping their cameras on, and coming to class on time when they are participating on zoom. Thank you for all you do! -Mrs. Dunford

Hello 5th grade parents and guardians! We have learned how to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers. We are now moving on to multiplying and dividing fractions and whole numbers using models and incorporating these operations with word problems. Please make sure your child is completing their Schoology work as well as www.aleks.com. Thanks for all you do!-Ms. Piscacek

In science, we are studying the water cycle. The student is expected to explain how the sun and the ocean interact in the water cycle. In social studies, we are studying the French and Indian War and the effects that it had on the colonies.-Mr. Walton

## STEM Classes

Ms. Drake's STEM-3rd-5th grade classes will be learning about erosion, weathering, and deposition of earth's landforms. We will see why erosion is something we need to be very aware of for our beaches and learn how to prevent it from occurring.

Ms. Drake' s1st-2nd STEM will be learning about animal characteristics that help them live in their environment. Students will be drawing and describing their favorite animals.

If your student is absent, email the doctor's note to the attendance clerk (imeza@harmonytx.org) fax or drop the note inside the box outside the office by the window. Reminder: students have until 11:59 pm to submit the exit ticket to receive attendance credit for that day.
