History of the Boston Tea Party 1773-1775
Samuel Adams and sons of liberty boarded 3 ships and threw 342 chests full of tea into the ocean it took almost 3 hours to dump the tea in more than 100 colonist emptied the tea into the harbor. The chests held over 90,000 lbs ( 45 tons ) it would cost about 1,000,000 dollars today.
Boston Tea Party information
The Boston Tea was the culmination of a resistance movement throughout British America against the Tea Act, which had been passed by the British Parliament in 1773. Colonists objected to the Tea Act because they believed that it violated their rights as Englishmen to "No taxation without representation," that is taxed only by their own elected representatives.
Taxing tea
Taxing the tea place on May 10 1773 a group of sons of liberty through away 92,000 pounds of tea because the government taxed it $ 400,000 a year. With the passing the Tea Act the seventeen million pounds of unsold surplus tea the British East could be sold to markets in the American Colonies. Philadelphia and New York refused the British East tea to be offloaded and sent ships back. December 16, 1773, 340 chests of tea was dumped.

The Boston Tea Party started 1773 May 10 through March 17 1776. On May 10th the Parliament passed the tea act which had happened to lower the tax on tea. On September 6th 1773 New York Newspaper published everything about the Tea Act for the first time in the colonies. 1774 January 19th King George found out about the Boston Tea Party. The Parliament decided to punish Boston. March 17th 1776 British Troops were out of Boston, they were driven out by the Continental Army of the leadership of George Washington.
