Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition is now accepting applications. Click here to enter your project
http://www.loudounyouth.org/programs-2/step-up-loudoun-youth-competition/ Every year Rock Ridge student do a great job in this competition. It is open to 6th-12th graders. This is a very powerful event and looks great on a resume or college application as something you have done.

Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition encourages middle and high school youth across the county to identify an issue in their school, neighborhood or community, create a plan to address that issue, and implement the plan. The goal is to encourage, support and reward the youth of Loudoun County for making positive changes in their own lives and the lives of others.
October 1st the FAFSA opened for families to apply for student aid. Use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form to apply for financial aid for college. Never pay for the FAFSA!! There are websites that might use a similar name and charge money or guarantee you will get financial aid. Only use the link below for the FAFSA.

Seniors are off to a great start with their college applications, 40% have already applied. Continue to make your senior appointments to discuss your after high school plans. Here is the link for all your important senior information and a link to make you appointment.

We are in need of two Rock Ridge Athletic Booster Club board members! Please contact patrick.mcnanley@lcps.org if interested!
All athletes must have the following complete to participate in conditioning:
- VHSL physical dated after 5/1/20
- Registration completed online at www.rockridgesports.us
- All athletes must complete the pre work out disclosure https://forms.gle/DLgMEQRva2McHm9W8 every day. Fill out the link on your way to school, we will take your temperature and then you will hit submit.
- All athletes will have a temperature screening prior to exiting car.
- All athletes will bring at least 32 ounces of water and a mask to participate.
- All drop offs will occur in the parking lot outside door D5 by the stadium.
Please either scan and email your VHSL physical form to patrick.mcnanley@lcps.org or bring when you come to condition.
During this preseason time frame you are welcome to go to as many different sports conditioning and practices that you wish.
Boys Tennis will be on Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m.
Girls Basketball will be on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m.
Cheer will meet on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. starting on 10/6/20.
Boys Basketball will be on Mondays at 5 p.m.
Football will go on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 4:45 p.m.
Field Hockey will go on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.
Boys and Girls Swim will go on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.
Baseball will go on Wednesdays at 5 p.m.
Track and Field will go on Tuesdays (Sprinters/Jumpers), Wednesdays (Throwers), and Thursdays (All Runners) at 4:30 p.m.

Please email me, Robyn Wisti, your student's Allergy Action Plan, Asthma Action Plan, Seizure Emergency Action Plan, Adrenal Insufficiency Emergency Action Plan, Authorization for Medication Administration and/or Diabetic Medical Management Plan as applicable to robyn.wisti@lcps.org We would like to be ready to pivot quickly to the hybrid model and provide for your student's medical needs. Also, in a virtual environment we want your student's teacher to be aware of any health concerns.

As a reminder for this school year;
Nebulizer treatments and other aerosolizing procedures will not be performed at LCPS during the 2020-2021 school year. These aerosolizing procedures can spread the coronavirus droplets into the air and put others at risk of becoming infected. If you are providing an inhaler for your child to use at school, it must be accompanied by a spacer device.

Behind the Wheel
Behind the Wheel (BTW)
Behind the Wheel instruction services have started again. LCPS instructors have been given the green light to resume this service to students who wish to take BTW at Rock Ridge High School. To be eligible, students must have their DMV issued learner's permit, have passed classroom driver's education, and have attended the Partners for Safe Teen Driving presentation.

Navigating ParentVue Information Session
LCPS’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) invites you to join them on Session 3 of The Family Room: Navigating ParentVUE on Wednesday, October 7th at 6 p.m. where experts from the Department of Digital Innovation will guide families through a deeper dive of ParentVUE, as well as, field family questions about the platform. There will be Spanish and Arabic live interpretation to accommodate potential language needs/preferences.

Math and MAP Testing
Algebra 1 and Geometry MAP Test Make-up
Make-up MAP testing will be conducted this Monday, October 5. Test start time and Google Meet information was provided by your student’s math teacher. Results from the test will help the teacher focus their instruction this year to meet student needs, and will not impact your student’s course grade. If your student is unable to participate in Monday’s testing window, please alert their teacher immediately.
Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 Workbook Pick-up
If you are in one of these math classes and were not able to pick up your workbook on Sept. 14 or 21, you will be able to pick up the workbook at school between 8:30 AM and 2 PM on Monday, October 5.
Freshmen Smoothies!
On Monday, October 5th, tomorrow, from 8:30 am -10:30 am, we will welcome our Freshman for a “Smooth(ie) Start” drive-thru. During this time, we will cheer on our Freshman and celebrate a smooth start to their Freshman year with Smoothies from Robeks Juices and Smoothies as well as School Breakfast. Some of our teachers will be present to help celebrate the class of 2024 along with Rocky our school Mascot. We would also like for students to show their school spirit by decorating their cars or by wearing school colors and fun attire to show Rock Ridge Pride. Government Classes and Voter Registration
This week the Loudoun Board of Elections will be presenting in Government classes. They will talk about the election process and register any students who can vote in the upcoming election. To fill out the registration, you must have your social security number available.

SAT & ACT
Seniors: You can still register for the in-school SAT. LCPS has re-opened the registration and payment portals for current seniors to take the College Board’s SAT test with Essay on Tuesday, October 27. Students may register via this link and preference will be given to students who have not previously taken the SAT test.
Juniors: our PTSO is partnering with several local test prep companies to offer FREE, virtual SAT and ACT practice tests in late October and early November. Not only is it free, but you will receive a detailed assessment of where you may need to work for better results. There is no obligation to use these companies’ services but if you do, the RRHS PTSO will benefit.

11/14 Loudoun Test Prep – test is available all weekend with a choice of SAT or ACT. Please put the following code in the notes so LTP knows the registration came from a RRHS family. RRHS2020
Test Optional – I can’t stress enough to read the “fine print” for each college regarding test optional. Some colleges still want a score other documentation. I am starting to see college’s request a graded essay from our junior or senior year or three AP test scores. Always check this website for the latest information:
